Download Sharpnelsound Collection Vol. 1 and 2. They are "best of" compilations and are pretty good. The problem with DJ Sharpnel is that the quality of their tracks varies from the fucking greatest thing you have ever heard to pure and utter shite, but I think the compilations have a pretty decent selection of tracks on them.

My favourite albums is Brain Violation.Kannou Shinshoku. It the best and most consistent Sharpnelsound release so far. Every track is brilliant.

What I have from Share is 埖高岱玲 in lossless and 紅き月のアリア in 320kbps mp3. The tags are good, so I'm just encoding the first album into 192kbps ogg and leaving the mp3s as is. I removed fullsized scans and left a simple cover file in each of the folders.

As a side note: I enjoyed Silver Forest's release this time around, a couple of their tracks went straight into my fave playlist. that's why I'm uploading. First upload will be ready in 8 min; second one within the next half an hour at best.

I kinda took their addition for granted, but still a nice surprise. I'm listening to it now. Quality is overall good, quite consistent; and it feels to me that it has a theme of sorts, in the respect that the cover art matches, etc. What I don't quite fancy is the musical weight on the vocals. Personally I don't mind vocals the slightest as long as it mends well into the rest of the music, without any part of it needlessly overpowering the others. It felt to me like most of the vocal songs had a ~60% weight on the vocal addition alone. That said, the album is actually 50/50 vocal/non-vocal, so it isn't really an issue to speak of. Track 09 - WHITE TRAP - is my favourite of the bunch, and not only because it's a Nue theme arrange. The track itself is to me a manifestation of everything good I resemble with efs as a circle. Conclusion: check it out, it should be rather interesting no matter your taste in music.

As I wrote this the upload finished. I encoded it from lossless tak into ~250kbps ogg. I did only minor changes with added cover art and file/folder naming.

Otherwise, out of my recent finds, there's only Soranetarium and Alpaca, which of only the former I already know of. At best you can expect Mediterranean flavoured, Umineko-ish, relaxed music with female vocals. At worst - slow/daft jpop.

I was actually thinking about reviewing [Alice's Emotion] Red - my biggest surprise so far, but was reluctant because of my impression that the majority preferes short ones in larger quantities, which in turn wouldn't be a chance in the case of a grand 3-cd release with so much awesome. Silver Forest and EastNewSound is also liable for indepth analysis.

Anyway, prepare for wall of text in my humble review of [ALiCE'S EMOTiON] RED:

ALiCE's EMOTiON have been around long enough to easily create hype in the doujin scene, yet they still need to perform in order to convince those who know of their previous shortcomings. This season they did a hell of a performance. I won't make any claims, and I haven't archived that many AE albums (mere coincidence, no bias), but this is the best release I've personally experienced from them since Funny Princess (for those of us who enjoys Vocaloids). Take it for what it is and read on if you're intrigued.

With 3 discs surely they should be able to please some part of the audience, right? Absolutely, and there's no problem there, the best part however is that each CD sounds overall potent enough to make out a release in itself - and still I'd be pleased with AE's contribution in this summer's Comiket, and the next 2 major Touhou related happenings. Which in short means 3 times the score for us. Having said all this, any doujin veteran will notice quite a few familiar tracks upon listening. Don't be too hasty in assuming the worst, AE is in no way merely recycling past glories; or perhaps they are? In any case they're doing it damn well, it's what you'd call remixing/rearranging, or making tributes if you will. In the question of AE's agenda on this big release, I'd take a guess on a humble self-tribute; having reached an impressive 25 CDs in their discography I'd say it's only fair. They've undoubtly been a great source of inspiration and motivation in developing doujin music, even lending their brand to new springs for that added push in the right direction.

I haven't been overly impressed with some recent ALiCE'S EMOTiON releases but the compilation CDs made me remember why I really used to like REDALiCE at one point. My personal quality chart goes something like this:
CD1 >= CD2 > CD3; other than a few misfits and blandness in the last disc, I found cool tracks pretty much all over. E.g. '4 me' has some cool movements, 'color me indigo' isn't bad at mixing groove and house, I don't mind laidback trance sported in 'Magic Square' either; and how novell of them to gather all (mostly) generic, vocal, techno samples into 'MAD GiRL'.

Anyway, there's some new stuff to me today, which of only one name was already known to me - Voltage of Imagination, seemingly with two releases.

That song was a huge Bemani reference.
