So, what do you guys think Yasu's injury that prevents him/her from being loved, thus turning him/her into furniture is?

Do you think there's a reason why R07 didn't give Yasu's a character sprite? I mean, Yasu and Lyon should look the same (other than the age difference), no?

The scene can actually be read two ways. The fall injured Yasu, making him incapable of love. Or Yasu didn't want to be saved from the fall, because he was incapable of love due to his body.

In the previous thread, someone said that Yasu's gender is likely dependent on the circumstances. If he's born male, Natsuhi accepts him as the next heir and raises him as Leon, but if she's born female, she gets cliff'd.

What do you guys think of this? Seems plausible to me.
The only thing that conflicts with it is the phone call Natsuhi receives in EP5, since the voice on the line is male.

In this episode, Eva got angry at Krauss, and Natsuhi jumped at her, shocking her and causing Natsuhi to die.

This is because Natsuhi is an idiot, but Eva was also in the wrong. Her plan to cover up the murders is also a selfish act, but a benign one. Course, because Kyrie and Rudolf are Neutral fucking Evil, shit goes bad in a bad way.

Meanwhile, Natsuhi intentionally killed a servant and small child. Or at least she thought the small child died.

Kyrie and Rudolf are the ones who are also evil. They also intentionally killed people.

The end where Eva defeats Kyrie and makes a commitment to never let Ange learn how evil her family was, that's why we love Eva. That's what Japan was calling Eva a good, and that's why she's pretty goddamn cool.

She's by no means perfect. She's not Jessica, she's not a knight in shining armor.

Tellingly, she also wasn't dead.

She decided to kill everything because she found out that:
- She was conceived by a crazy old man raping her mother, who might have been his own daughter.
- The person who was to be her foster mother hated her so much that she wanted her dead.
- The people she looked at as mother and father knew about all of this the entire time, but did nothing to help her situation.
- She has no real friends. Jessica just hangs with her when it's convenient. Any servant will do.
- She's genderfucked in some way and has convinced herself that true love is ultimately impossible.
- She can't even fully retreat into fantasy, because she blocked that route off for Battler's sake.
- Even solving the epitaph wasn't because of her own skill or choice. It was made for her to solve by Kinzo, and Genji would have walked her through it if she hadn't done it herself.

Her entire life she meant nothing to anyone. She never had any control over her circumstances at any given point. She "became" Beatrice just so some old rapist could grab at her skirt and beg forgiveness for raping her mother and then die.

In some ways it's the opposite of Higurashi (for me atleast). In the beginning/question arcs of Higurashi it seems like most of the characters are bad/evil/insane but by the end of the question arcs most of the characters have been revealed to actually be pretty good people (even Mion's grandma).
Umineko for most of the series the main characters (on Rokkenjima atleast) seem to be flawed but not really terrible/evil people- all of them are shown to have nice/human moments at some point. But now it seems many of the characters that were likeable in the beginning have turned out to be bad guys.
