Yes, the first time I ever had to say touhou out loud I was like "What the fuck am I doing?".
It was a horrible experience because the guy I was talking to was from /a/ and visited /jp/ once and was confused.

Actually, if one were to live in Gensokyo, they would pronounce it as "Tei" while inside Eientei or over 1000 years of age would pronounce it as "Tewi", considering Gensokyo was closed off before ゐ was made obsolete after the war.

ゐ (wi) and い (i) were generally both pronounced as "i" after the Heian period (794 – 1184 CE).

But Gensokyo doesn't exist so anyone who pronounces it like "Tewi" is probably autistic.

I used to pronounce it as テウィ until I watched some video where they were talking about her and pronouncing it as てい.

I'm not sure how I pronounced ちるの before I knew Japanese (or saw チルノの算数教室, whatever came first), but I figure it was as "sir-no."

Also, I used to sound out りんのすけ as rinno-suh-keh instead of -noske, but that's the fault of faggots clinging to shitty romanization systems like Hepburn's rather than transliterations that actually make sense phonetically.

>> No.5960112

I read it as tewi and if I ever have to say it outloud I'd say "Tei".

In my head I like to call her something along the lines of "Tee-wee" or "Tiwi" or however you'd say it, because that sounds way cuter than Tei.

Similarly I like Sirno better than Chiruno and Keen better than Keine. I audibly pronounce them properly but the improper ways sometimes sound more elegant / cuter to me.
