Evil, real evil. Is just doing whatever you want, just because you want to. It's really as simple as that. If you're doing it out of revenge, or because somebody said you couldn't do it, then you're not evil, nor are you doing evil things.

Personally I would define evil as causing malicious harm for unnecessary selfish gains. Examples:
-Running a $90 billion ponzi scheme.
-Firing hundreds of workers and adding their paychecks to your bonus.
-Begging the government to bail you out when your business model fails and wrecks the economy, only to keep sticking to your failed plans and giving yourself a bigger bonus.

There is no such thing as absolute evil or good. It all depends on perspective. They're strictly human terms, there is no such thing as morality in nature. Everything is a shade of gray.

I don't really believe in evil. It's a too religious concept. It's easy to say that evil exists if you believe in something whose very existence defines good or evil, like God or Satan, but "evil" is a way too vague expression if you don't have something to personify it.

I think we should instead try to use more meaningful words, like selfish, sadistic, barbaric or unrighteous, since those are expressions people can actually explain the application of, instead of just throwing it at everything they personally find objectionable.

I say following:

Evil, is the act of unnecesarily and unprovoced acting against others.

1) Punching a random person, would be evil.

2) Punching a random person who insulted you not, while still an overreaction.

Evil is selfishness at the expense of others.

Simple example: you are throwing trash in a trash can. Your trash misses. You walk over and notice there's more trash on the floor in addition to your missed piece. Do you:

A. Put away all the trash? (Good)
B. Put away just your piece? (Neutral)
C. Just keep walking? (Evil)

There is no "right" choice, but the choice that is intuitive to *you* is the one that matches your alignment.
