so could any of Alice's dolls become youkai?

and how does a doll become a youkai anyway

animals like Wriggle or Ran or the catgirls become youkai if they live long enough, but dolls aren't alive to begin with

but there are a lot of ways to become a youkai aren't there, I remember some /jp/ anon who was pretty knowledgeable in japanese mythology or something listing them all

They could be tossed aside for 100 years like Kogasa but then they would be sad and hateful.

Didn't Rinnosuke explain Alice's dolls in one of the chapters of his book? IIRC she manually controls them all, meaning there is no independent action, the dolls are just an extension of her body. So no, thinking one of those dolls would rebel is like saying your penis will revolt and not wor- oh wait.

yes, but Alice wants to make a living doll, like Medicine with free will and free actions

Alice should just lock up one pair of Shanghai and Hourai together for 100 years until they come to life.

It's like a hobby of hers. She wants to be able to have a real conversation with someone other than the ones she has with herself. The most she can do is, according to various information, is make Shanghai act on her own IF Alice has a string connected to her. Without it, Shanghai is just another doll. Which is why Alice wants to make a doll like Medicine.
