ZUN's writing is witty (or so it appears to be, at least) but it doesn't really reflect any of the characters' personalities.

The original variant of that expression refers to nostalgia. This is not the case here. There's nothing wrong with enjoying ZUN's rather differentiable style.

As far as we know ZUN does touhou as a hobby, not because he needs to. He sets his own schedule and thus spends as much time as he likes with every game he makes. This is best exemplified by us not getting the next main game yet.

Less focus on art means games come quicker and more frequently from ZUN.
Besides this isn't new guys. ZUN hasn't done any art for the fighting games. Though I do think Alphes' art is better.

Do you guys think that the game will actually be you know, good, though?

I mean.. the new mechanic he's trying out.. freezing the bullets. Are there gameplay previews/leaks anywhere? Curious how that works, because just by the wording, freezing the bullets so they hit you makes it sound like this is going to the easiest fucking game ever. But maybe you only have limited freezing power (or there will be patterns most cruel and unusual to compensate for the freezing ability). Or more like I think if you use the freeze too much then you will cage yourself in and if the pattern forces you to move you'll fly into your frozen bullets and die. This could actually be a very neat mechanic, there could be patterns where you have to freeze specific streams/locations at the precise time in order to survive.. it could actually be more difficult than normal Touhou because you aren't just pressing Z the whole time in addition to dodging/grazing.

Hearing the same slow bgm for 20 different scenes isn't my idea of a game. Especially when said game requires tens and sometimes hundreds of different attempts before getting it right.

It'd be cool if Cirno accidentally froze the bullets so hard they broke into more bullets. Eat your own Minus K, bitch.

I'm imagining it to be like StB where you select each stage/spellcard. You'll have to run the clock out of the spellcard. You can freeze bullets to help get rid of some bullets kind of like using the camera to clear a spot in StB. Probably when charging your bullet, you'll move slowly.

That's what i'm imagining it as.

King of GETs appears as a secret boss and is depicted as a fairy that can control the electrical impulses of the mind. His in-game name is "Dark Star" and his final spell card is throwing out thousands of miniature 5s in a completely random pattern.
