Here's Hanyuu's description of the original Rika by the way:

"Other than having a poor relationship with her mother, Rika was a pretty normal young girl back then. Her personality was just like Satoko's; an energetic young girl who loved running about the wild mountains and pulling pranks."

So her original personality presumably was different from the moe persona she adopts in front of others if it was like that of Satoko.

Bernkastel is Rika after losing her ideals and realizing the cruelty of the World. She could try to paradox herself out of existance because of boredom.

rika is still bern. the original rika is different from bernkastel but that doesn't make her a different person per se, she's just merely a result of what happened to rika.

whilst bernkastel is not rika 2 rika 3 rika 4 etc in all the worlds before she exists there, she is still the original rika.

They're the same person. Just not the same as the person in the world they inhabit.

my theory is that the connection between Rika and Bern is like Evatrice and Eva.
the game started with the board just like that, everytime HANYUU (AUAU) fails to understand what kills Rika everytime the world repeat. at some time, Hanyuu decided to connect to Rika, and with that Rika becomes aware to the loop, and to the fact she died in many kakeras.
at the very beggining it must be very confusing and scary, so Rika sometimes drinks to forget the pain, realizing it effects only Hanyuu, so created for herself a witch inside her- Bern, that would "help" her while she's losing hope, but without knowing, since in the manga of higurashi she meets Bern once and don't recognize her, and Bern helps her a little.
After Rika finally escaped her death, AUAU was impressed with Bern's work (since she did help Rika, btw Bern even writes somthing every beggining of the game) and gave her the status of a witch, witch of miracles, since she didn't just escaped the loop, but destroyed it, and that's a real miracle. and Rika
of course doesn't know about it, like Eva did what she wanted with her witch, and Evatrice just became a witch.

There's no reason to think that is the case at all. The reason Hanyuu caused the loops was because she wanted Rika to live a full life. There is no evidence for witches being involved or a metaworld. The closest thing to it is the dimension with the kakera where Bern exists by herself. Don't try to combine Umineko and Higurashi.
