The Umineko anime adaptation was a joke.
It was semi-half decent up until the somewhere of the very first twilight.
After that it went all down hill, fast. In the novels they took time to describe the mental anguish of the survivors and descriptions of how the panic went on.
In the anime however, as it was of a much higher pace, they apperantly didn't have time characters and felt that they had to rush forward to other twilights all the time, and the characters themselves? In the anime it was as if they often could barely even scream or shout at the same time, and when one panicked there were plenty of scenes where the rest kind of waited for their turn to panick as well or something, waiting somewhat quitely

So it might be useful to see it through different mediums.
