Different Anon here, but I see where they're going. I can't count the amount of times Typhoon kicked in JUST as my opponent started using a spell card, during the card they started using, just as they do something and I try to start blocking, when I have no more than 10 pixels of HP left or just when I'm barely alive. Fuck that, or fuck my inability to pay attention at the whole screen at the same time (or to understand the weather circle).

GGs, profile1p. Why won't you go below three orbs or let me blockstring you when I'm fishing for a Royal Flare finish like other foolish players do? ;_; Apparently I've been away from Soku too long. Some of those matches were simply embarrassing. Most interesting of all though had to be that match you won by SC canceling Remi's 22B with her 5 card pillar... I never knew you could do that... Not enough Remi players here apparently, heh. Thanks for the matches, was terribly fun when they were close and terribly saddening when they weren't.

What does "Simultaneous Buttons" in the key config mean? The wiki doesn't say and I'm not seeing any difference in casual testing.

>> No.5818952

>>5818915
If I'm not mistaken, the choosing cards and using card can be also done by pressing two buttons at the same time, although I do not remember which one they are. It even tells you so on the key config. If you disable the simultaneous thing, you won't be able to do that with only one button.

>>5818392
Wiggling the screen between rounds? What?

By the way, how useful are the system cards? Highly often I never find any space to include them in my decks, but after getting horribly raped by a Youmu just now I'm starting to think that having a few Guard Reversals might be useful.

There are a few system cards that, depending on the characters you're playing and fighting, are among the best cards in the game. Youmu's rush card on Suika, for instance, lets you do 3k+ dmg for one card. Experiment with 'em and figure out which ones you like. My personal favorite was always Yuyuko's ghost card, 'cause it's free pressure if you run low on orbs during a blockstring, and it can be used as a reversal since they don't disappear on hit like normal bullets. Other good ones are the spirit regen book for keep away characters and the weather card if you feel like trolling HARD with Utsuho or Suika.

I spam left+right in between rounds during downtime. Looks spastic as hell, but causes the screen to move with the character though. Looks really funny with Youmu because she just glides left and right without any actual animation.

>Highly often I never find any space to include them in my decks
16 skill cards + 4 suika gourds has led to some of my favorite decks.

Having, at the very minimum, two reversals and two bombs in a deck is a pretty good idea.

And what the fuck is this?

>> No.5819397

Hmm, I'm not a fan of taking hangekis along for any of my decks. You can go all the way to high tier without ever using them, and instead rely on just jumping out of pressure like everyone else. Then again, my games usually devolve into bait and counter matches as its rare for me to face opponents who can guard crush you at will.

That's true enough. I rarely play anyone where HJing out of most of their pressure isn't an option. But that goes hand in hand with poor gameplay mechanics. Doing idiotic and mindless things in this game generally has a positive effect against 99% of its player base.

That said, I still carry reversals in my deck. There's plenty of situations where HJing is a terrible option, even if it's open. There's plenty of characters where the last thing you want is to be jumping in front of them with air vulnerability. A reversal or bomb will not only remove their pressure, but give you a slight advantage with a knock down. Good players will bait and punish, but most will not. Even against good players though, I'd rather have them pausing their momentum to try to bait than continuing pressure while baiting a HJ anyways.

Har har, now you know how I feel when I do my daily oak and get a "HEY TREE WANNA EFZ" when I'm actually in the middle of something else; I never pass up the opportunity for a nice, calm round of EFZ though, so thanks a bunch for that. I was actually waiting for a phone call that time, and much to my pleasure, it came right after we finished.

And while I may not be able to succeed at the barrel super, there's not a snowball's chance in hell I'll fail THAT hard at it. Come on, give me some credit ;_;
But yeah, my connection's been pretty garbage as of late, I think I'll apologize anyway. Hit me up sometime when you have nothing to do and want to go for a round of WALLSLAM WALLSLAM WALLSLAM, sir. Unfortunately, today there's nothing to go on a tangent about. So, good luck!

Also when fighting as Alice against Youmu, your primary goal should be to keep her away with dolls / j6a / etc...
When she finally catches and pressures you, focus on escaping, NOT on countering her by mashing. That worked way better than it should have because of lag, but usually her normals beat yours cleanly. Even in a laggy match where you can sometimes get away with it, she comes out ahead because of her damage.
For example, when you saw her 5b in a pressure string, you jumped out. That's correct, but then 100% of the time you came down with a jA to try to hit me. And ended up getting counter hit for a 2000+ combo into corner knockdown. Instead of counter attacking, just fly out of the corner, try to get some space and resume your zoning game.

I guess you missed out by not spectating me playing against Kuraperunat just a moment ago. Those were pretty even matches, with some wins and losses for both. Anyway, I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this Cirno vs. Youmu matchup. Still, I'm constantly on the defense, looking for holes in your pressure. I have a bad habit of trying to poke when I feel I have an opportunity to punish you, but Cirno's stubby hands keep betraying me.

btw, when hosting, include your port in ip:port format so it's easy to copy and have the game paste it in automatically. also, i assumed you were using default port 10800, which didn't work. are you forwarded, and on the 1.10 patch?

>> No.5846034

Yeah, sorry about that, forgot the :10800. It's been a while.

I've not got Ports Forwarded, but I've always gotten netplay to work regardless. Gimme a minute here to tweak things.

>> No.5846046

Well, I'm working on getting Ports Forwarded, but if someone wants to go ahead and test it to see if it'll work, feel free to. I believe it should.

Good games aki. I felt like facing Utsuho with Cirno's joke deck was a good enough finisher for our random matches.

GGs Idler. It would be nice if random stopped giving the same characters over and over again though. I got Remilia 3/7 times, right after I had been using her for a few games too.

I agree, there's something very wrong with the random select in this game, and it's not just in my mind. Searching from my recent replays, I've got Sanae four times more often than Iku, for example. I guess I should start making proper decks for these characters the game seems to want me to play, if I intend to enjoy playing with this so-called random select.

>> No.5847795

>>5847688
You would have to use random select hundreds of thousands of times to see if it is actually skewed.

>> No.5848136

>>5847795
Technically, that's true. Still, I don't mind whether it's truly random or not if the game happens to pick me Sanae more often than Tenshi and Iku combined, I just wish I'd get to play other characters too.

If you had an average party, almost every level would take about an huor in FFXI and you can trim that down to 30-40 minutes with a really good party set-up.
Grinding would only take forever if you were one of those people pulling off maxing out every ojb.

Thanks. I only picked her up a few days ago, hopefully she'll improve more instead of hitting the same wall the rest of my mains always do. Your Youmu pressure is really nice, seems I need to be more patient in the corner against her, but I fear the inevitable charge crushes and panic... GGs
