I've been waiting for Continuum Shift to come out to get into Blazblue, but I heard the story mode is a continuation of Calamity Trigger rather than this being just an expansion with tweaking and extra features. Should I play the first one for the story or just go and get this one since it's the updated version?

I haven't encountered many, it's mainly just Hazama, Ragna, Tager and Bang. I've fought one or two Jin's online, but that's just about it. Many of the Ragna's are still doing their silly shenanigans from CT, like wakeup Inferno Dividers.

The two Jin users I met didn't know any basic combos, they just mashed from what I was seeing. Random ice swords and ice cars galore.

Jin was pretty much nerfed into the ground from CT to CS so don't expect too much of him from the semi-decent online players. Most of the Jins will quickly switch to Ragna.

The hori fight stick is "decent" (a button on mine broke after about 2 weeks and I couldn't fix it without soldering shit). It's really hard to mod though. Best sticks:
Madcatz TE > HRAP3 > Madcatz SE > all the random sticks HORI reeleased

If you don't want to have to mod, grab a TE. I'm not sure if the Comiccon promotion is still going but if it is it's also $50 less (if you live in the US). If you want to mod, your first choice is a HRAP3. If you can't find the HRAP3 or the HRAP3 is going to end up costing you more than the TE because you have to import from fucking china and it's going to cost you $60 in shipping, get a SE.

He takes a lot of work to be decent with. You really need to get the hang of using his chains to maneuver yourself around the stage and close in on your opponent, because his mobility sucks otherwise. You also have to be right on the mark with the timing for all of his bigger damage combos.

He's a decent character, you just have to dedicate yourself to learning him if you plan to main him. Don't think he's someone you can just pick up and play and expect to do decent with without any training.

Actually there's a decent amount of story in Blazblue.. for a fighting game at least. But that's no excuse to post it here anyway. Ar tonelico is only discussed here because it's an extremely niche title and is pretty much a visual novel with something worth discussing Although to me it's x is a slut, y is my waifu but I guess there is discussion to have continuous threads for months. Blazblue on the other hand has a "Blazblue general" thread up nearly all the time on /v/ where there's misc discussion, help/tips are shared and any rooms are made. As much as I love some of the characters in Blazblue it clearly belongs in /v/. I've never denied this. CT sucked hard when compared to the last Guilty Gear and I was very outspoken and/or asspained about it. No one is talking about CT anymore though, so I have no reason to bring up its suckage. I've moved on; CS is fine.

And I've never given special treatment to Sion; I've always said his dumb animes threads and his old BB:CT threads sucked. Heck 90% of his threads suck because he doesn't discuss a single thing and just posts reacting images.
