So, I decided to learn kanji by reading stuff with furigana, like Hiragana Times, children's books and manga.

So far it's been a quite effective method, the problem is that I don't know if I'll ever learn all the 1945 basic kanji by this method, but on the other hand, cramming kanji from a list is so fucking boring.

>> No.577030

even if you do learn all the 1945 kanji, chances are you won't be using all of them anyway, just learn the common ones

if you want to learn kanji, you must study it

you will never get a good grasp of kanji from reading if you skip writing. It's essential for recognizing the kanji in depth so you don't get stuff like 猫/描 confused, and many many more.

>> No.577326

First: If you really want to get literate in Japanese don't go with this "I only do so much because that's fine" bullshit. If you mean it, get serious. And that means even the Joyo Kanji are not enough, aim higher.

I'm a firm believer of learning to write the actual Kanji, nur just "might be able to read them, because i saw them with furigana" Since being able to write implies being able to read them, go for that.

There are tons of methods for studying Kanji, most of them get shitstormed by someone on the internet. Why? Because everyone learns different, and with Kanji there's nothing to grasp or understand, it's just simple pounding the whole shit into your head.

Also I won't recommend reading childrens mangas, novels, whatever. If you want my advice: Read what you're interested in. That way you'll make progress way faster and you won't lose your motivation as fast, hopefully never.

I agree with him, 1945 is not enough, expect to know at least 2200

俺 is not in the 1945, nor is 誰, of course everyone already knows those, but there's far more of kanji outside of the list you must learn.
