Hercules vs Lu Bu is a pretty hard topic really, but I'd go with Lu Bu.

1. Hercules is a barbarian (lion skin and club, seriously?) that uses dirty tricks, against Lu Bu, the "flying general", who wears traditional chinese armor and wields a long "ji"/halberd. Lu Bu is also a master horseman (he got one of the best horse too, Red fucking Hare, you heard of it?). Thus, in terms of equipments, Lu Bu would have the upper hand. The horse alone makes him superior. Look at most strategy games, a horseman will ALWAYS dominate over an infantry (unless they're a pikeman/spearman).

2. In terms of wit, a lot of account dismiss the intelligence of Lu Bu, but it's pretty bias/arguable since it's mostly resulted from propaganda used by his rivals to make him look less fearsome. Assuming Hercules is sane, he's still less educated than Lu Bu since Hercules dropped out of school since his youth, and I recall it being a music or art school. Furthermore, his opponents are mostly wild beasts and creatures, whereas Lu Bu competes against the greatest strategists and generals of his time.

3. In terms of "strength", Hercules wins in raw brute strength, but Lu Bu clearly wins in weapon mastery. Notable, at Hu Lao Gate, he was able to hold off three famous generals (Guan Yu, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei) all at the same time, only retreated after a long fight since he was becoming weary. What good is your brute strength if you can't land a single hit?

4. From myth/novels/etc, they're both master archers, so not much to say about that. Old fashion cowboy quickdraw? So, in terms of archery, it's a tie.

Gawain had Excalibur in Chretien de Troyes' stories (main author of Knights of the Round before Mallory). Chretien's Arthur had Caliburn I believe, as well as Excalibur. Caliburn was Arthur's main sword in Chretien's stuff though.
