I remember seeing a tutorial for Orin and it was pretty damn good too. Unfortunately I forgot to save it.

Okuu actually. I beat Orin after like 8 attempts. At least I could bomb my way past the hardest parts, but bombing on the last spellcard for Okuu with ReimuA is pretty pointless. This has to be somewhere between my 75th and 100th continue.

>> No.5736276

>>5736260
You can lose 8 lives on Orin and still get a game over at Hell's Artificial Sun.

>> No.5736277

Well at least you're using all the bombs available to you.

Is it only artificial sun screwing you up or are there other spell cards that are horrendously annoying?

Oh, I see, you're using continues.

Protip: 10-12 are easier to 1cc than to clear using continues.

It's true.

>> No.5736300

The only way to beat Artificial sun is for you to get lucky. No other way. If you get some crap pattern then you are screwed. Hopefully you will do better on the rest of the game and make it to her with enough lives. My strategy is to go through the entire game without losing lives up until at least Satori, which is where I only plan to lose at least 1 life maximum. The others are to be lost to Orin, when I get to Utsuho with 3 lives, I tough it out and win.

Ah, the Orin guide. I've read it, and I still can't beat her. I have trouble getting past Yuugi on normal mode. I've 1cc'd PCB, IN, and MoF, on normal. It hurts.

>> No.5736310

That's not true at all. On normal mode, there should always be a viable route.

The 3rd spellcard and how exactly it works still confuses me but I can get at least past it at least with 1 bomb. And the 7th spellcard (faster version of the 3rd) sometimes kills me. The 8th I pretty much have to bomb the fuck out of. But even coming out with 3-4 lives on the 9th spellcard, I can lose all those lives in the matter of seconds when she is at 50% or less health.

Keep practicing lol.

I'm not much good myself but I can give a few pointers on avoiding death on artificial sun. The biggest problem is dodging the waves of small bullets coming out from Okuu, the big bullets coming in are fairly predictable. Stay as low as you can, then take a quick breather to look at the wave of small bullets and spot the biggest gap. Don't move while you're looking if you can, you won't hit anything, (hopefully). After spotting the gap, start moving across to it then move through it by letting the gravity pull you in. Then move back down and repeat.

If you can't spot a gap or it's too far away then you'd better bomb. As you said, Reimu A has no bonuses here to eliminating bullets so aim to move to the next gap so you can prepare to move through it.

>> No.5736360

Why is that 5th stage bosses are always hell hard (in most cases) and then the Final Boss stages are somewhat-easier? Okuu's stage is so easy compared to Orin's it's not even funny.

>> No.5736365

>>5736339
The gravity shouldn't really matter. You just have to add a continuous backwards movement to keep it in equilibrium, sort of. The bullets that get sucked in follow a pretty simple pattern, so you only really have to dodge the little ones.

But after a while, the gravitional pull is > than moving back, and staying against the bottom of the screen for that spellcard isn't so smart for some reason that I can't remember... maybe its getting closed in or something.

OP here. I found Orin far easier than Okuu. I'm not a twitch dodger as much as I am a pattern reader. I felt that beating Orin depended far more on my ability to notice patterns and devise a strategy. Okuu just feels way more chaotic and random.

Do you by chance play... Normal mode? I've never played any touhou game besides 7 on easy mode, and that was for the cards so you can fight yukari.

>after a while, the gravitional pull is > than moving back

That won't happen unless you hit the timeout phase ON TOP OF reducing the spell's health to its normal final phase. Or when you end the spell. Then you just move unfocused (and tap focus so you don't overshoot).

You shouldn't hug the bottom of the screen 100% of the time, yes, but listen to what the other anon said. The red bullets fall in predictably so you shouldn't be caught off-guard.

I was being sarcastic. If you need to move away faster, let go of shift, durr.

Also, you don't really need focused movement for easy mode...

>> No.5736528

>>5736338
No one has that many spellcards so I'm assuming you're including normal attacks.

3rd spellcard: The glowing orbs are random, just dodge the best you can. The large bullets she fires are homing though so you'll need to move through the gaps of the glowing orbs. No real strategy, just practice it until you get the hang of it. I think there's a particular way to make things easier based on where she moves after firing the large bullets but I don't know about that. This also applies to the 7th spellcard. I always have trouble with these so w/e.

8th spellcard: No strategy here either. Just stay in the middle of the two suns and dodge like a madman. If you can capture this spellcard then you're looking pretty good for Artificial sun as the concepts are pretty similar.

>> No.5736540

>>5736485
All right, sorry about that. But reading your post leads me to believe that the gravity is actually supposed to be a problem for a part of the spell that doesn't include the very end.

What? That's her easiest spellcard once you know you can go in between the two suns.

I don't pay too much attention to her 2nd noncard because you're not pressured by the bubble bullets, but for her final noncard you always expect a clearing at the exact same spot everytime. Switch if she's going the other direction, obviously.

Stay far away from the center of the screen. Okuu follows you horizontally, to an extent.
