Do you play instruments, /jp/?

I'm trying to branch out from the usual eroge and touhou, and having lots of time by myself, I figure learning an instrument would be fun.
What would you say is a good instrument to learn, barring out guitars?
Any other anons who began learning recently and want to share their experiences/thoughts?

>> No.5697114

Try bass guitar, it's simple and fun.

The piano is still the greatest instrument.

I play keyboard/piano, but I haven't played in ages. For some reason I can still play UN Owen, even though I have no idea what the notes are.

Try Drummer, seems like its your speed

Try Alto Sax, it's not that hard to learn

I used to play the Alto Sax. I kind of regretted it because the Soprano would have been a better choice. Jack of all trades, master of none is how I would describe it.

Piano, by far.

Oh, and I might as well ask this here: Where can I get touhou song tabs for piano and what's a good song for me to start out with? I used to play piano and was in a level below intermediate, but that was a few years ago.

I would like to be able to play trumpet and ukulele. But I have no intentions of learning.

>> No.5697207

keys are nice to learn on because you can use headphones. with anything else, be prepared to annoy the shit out of your neighbors.

>> No.5698301

I was thinking about getting myself a controller MIDI keyboard and practice on Touhou tunes or something.
What is the best/most complete program for quality sounds, since probably the software that'll come with the keyboard will be shit?
Also, what brand would you suggest to keep things cheap? I was thinking a 61 keys would be enough as a first keyboard, is there some feature I should pay attention to, besides weighted keys?

ive been playing for like 10 years, but i never took lessons or anything. i just play a few hours a week for fun until there is a song i want to learn.

Play piano, but having played in a month now. Usually I'm the kind of person who would be ashamed if I went just one day without practicing. Maybe I should find some Touhou sheet music and try to get my motivation up again.

I thought midi controllers were all tiny ass one or two octave boards? Just get an 88 key weighted keyboard with midi out. I have a ypg 625 whose keys feel quite heavy compared to my upright so it is more difficult to play faster songs, but it is fine for recording midi.

Just try something like audacity, fl studio, or whatever.

i should note that its usb capable midi, not with midi out

Oh, improvising anon is the same as the Swedish anon who likes showing off his figures all the time. Didn't know that. You have to stop reorganizing your room.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that controller keyboards basically need to be connected to a pc with some VST program to work?
I figure that kind of keyboard is chaper than those with built-in audio, which is why I was thinking about getting this over keyboards with built-in speakers and other stuff.
I'm pretty much an absolute beginner in regards to piano so I didn't want to buy some professional stuff, and I don't mind having to connect it to a pc to make it work.

Awesome room, by the way.

As far as I know, you will use the vsti plugin in your mixer application which will let you do a bunch of things. A keyboard with midi out or usb midi out can record straight to midi or pass through a vsti for cooler samples or what not.

For example, I have recorded to midi but that sounds like junk, even with good soundfonts and I dont exactly know what I am doing. Ive hooked up an interesting piano vsti called galaxy steinway and it sounded much better.

I dont really mix anything, so I am fine with hooking up the audio out to my audio line in and recording it directly.
