I think the main problem with /jp/ and 4chan in general is that most people treat it as a way to pass time instead of as a place to discuss things of various subjects.

So you're saying people treat every board as /b/?
Sounds about right.

I have Aspergers so I find discussion more difficult than just posting an image without text or plainly stating my opinion without the intent to answer anyone else's response.

But isn't that the most fun part?
Oh wait, nevermind.

4chan is my passtime.

So, how would you possible change the user base? Moderation? Amazing. I sure hope moot adds more mods!

To be honest, it'll be fun seeing all the butt hurt threads over moderation if moot is actually adding new mods next week and not just saying he is doing it. He does that a lot. No wonder people ignore what he says. Any bets on how many posts compare 4chan to any random forum if this happens?

>> No.5681668

That's absolutely correct. I never come here with the specific intention of discussing something, and I guess I could be considered a pretty shitty poster.

I really need to get rid of this habit. Both for my sake, and for the sake of you guys who have to put up with people like me.

No, that's pretty normal.
Especially with that delicious Trinitron monitor.

I want more moderation, but I wish the moderator would understand /jp/ culture, so he should remove things which are not /jp/ culture(advertising spam, invasion spam, /a/ spammers(i don't mind /a/ topics as long as they stay condensed, but having dozens of saten/uiharu threads and the like is most certainly spam and I hope to see those doing it banned (along with generic /a/ spam)). There are certain things which are against the rules, but they're mostly fine in /jp/, like nsfw pictured(perferably spoilered), posting links to doujins/games/porn/whatever (as long as those links are /jp/ related), and some other questionably things. As long as a moderator would just delete the offtopic non-/jp/ posts (as people report them), everything would be fine.

Before /jp/ split from /a/, there were similar threads on /a/, which kept getting deleted, even though they belonged on /a/ to some extent (h doujinshi threads or VN discussion threads or touhou threads(however, touhou hijacks were spam, deserved of being deleted)), which ended up being welcome on /jp/ (and kind of one ofthe reason it was made), so any moderator on /jp/ would have to know what is fine here and what isn't. It would be tricky to find a good mod for /jp/, and a janitor would probably be overworked as some people would remake the bad threads over and over again, as they get deleted.

I think the problem with 4chan is the posters know little about the subjects they are talking about.
