Hm, you didn't usually block on wakeup and I don't remember you groundteching. I'd try teching once in a while, and wakeup mash is (almost) never a good thing... If you do end up trapped in a corner on wakeup, either HJ out or try and find the wholes in the strings, jumping probably being easier.

I'll never get used to Cirno's melee, either it's fast with ridiculously short range or very good range but really slow. I kept losing most of our aerial melee exchanges, so I thought it'd be better to keep you at a distance. I never knew that alt 623 Icicle Rise was so useful, preventing you from using that j2A of yours and it even ate through your wisps with ease.

My corner pressure is made of loopholes. You can escape pretty much whenever I use B bullets, there are good chances that I'll be unable to hit you if you try escaping upwards. Also, if you can predict my Myon attack, 6C alt.22, which really shouldn't be a part of my corner pressure at all, you can escape with ease. Actually, you could escape between the 6C and 22.

Suika is still an annoying bitch though, it's true, but Utsuho is just so much more cheesy. Even watching good players on nicovideo reveals that Utsuho can win the majority of her matchups if she even gets the slightest advantage during the fight, simply because all she needs is 3 or 4 combos to kill you. Given her insane attack priority, her air unblockable 3A, and a plethora of other aspects of her character, getting those 3 or 4 combos really isn't hard, which is part of what makes her such bullshit

I wouldn't say that even though it's quite easy to set up into since all you need is some sort of knockdown at the right range. Far from broken and there are plenty of tricks to escape from it or minimize the damage that you take like using an SC with invuln etc. You can probably expect a ton of 66c's from bad Yukaris so stay in the air or something and punish those whiffs.

This SC is incredibly easy to avoid and if not avoid completely, you can get away with very minimal damage, if you know what you're doing. You can usually expect the Utsuho to be super aggressive so you just have to punish mistakes. Once the attack does come out, stay at the maximum range possible and perform a HJ at the last moment, right before the attacks hitbox reaches you, then proceed to fly upward and away. 1.10 Utsuho is crazy broken though.

I just got past all of the nonsensical complaining and realized she's a pretty solid character in 1.10, but I don't think I am ever going to get the hang of her. GGs, sorry for playing shitty during the first matches. I'm too drowsy to think up any decent strategies so I kept repeating my mistakes over and over. I generally have trouble against projectile-heavy characters as well

Well, one thing I noticed, you always tech out of the corner after knockdown, and it becomes a bit predictable. I could always continue pressuring you immediately since I knew where you'd end up. Try to make your opponent guess whether you'll tech or not, it'll be a lot harder for them to continue their pressure that way.

And another thing, try to adapt your tactics according to the character your opponent uses. It felt like you tried to combat Youmu the same way as Cirno, but that really doesn't work out well. Youmu's unmatched speed makes slow skills, like your alt. 623 " Boundary Between Mind and Foot" very dangerous for you to use, and they don't really pose a threat for a Youmu player since they're usually on the offense. Yukari's default parasol spin is a lot more useful in this situation. You could experiment with different skills and maybe make different decks to combat different characters, if you feel like it.

I see. That must be pretty recent then. I never faced a Hisoutensoku v1.00-1.03 Sakuya player who used 66B much (if at all), other than Duckator. I have noticed an uprising in 66B-happy Sakuya players since v1.10, but I can only think of one player here who goes over the top in fishing for 66B hits at every chance.

The move on it's own is pretty bad. About 800 damage max and back to neutral even on hit but it's fast and long ranged so it's not too hard to get it in once in a while. Enjoy your easy 4000 damage.

I just don't understand why it always has to be 66b. It's easy to hitconfirm, sure, but slashy combos off 5aaa, 6a, 3a, 66a, random bullets connecting from a full screen away and most counterhits. As Sakuya's only straight damage card, it's pretty versatile. You can even use it as a fullscreen punish or to crush.

Glad to hear that; I hope you saved some replays. Her footsies and preassure is indeed different, and something you'll need to adapt. I do put a lot of thought into my strings, and what I've come to accept is that her preassure isn't really about crushing orbs, but rather keeping the opponent at bay. You need to think carefully through at what points you need to throw bullets, when and how to melee, and perhaps most importantly: how to bait; be it escapes, pokes or punishes. Patche is scrubishly viewed as a bullet spammer, but her true strength is oki play. She has some handicaps, so you'll need to partly play your opponent directly, as you normally do in a fightan, and partly have your opponent play into your hand. This is really just general fightan food for your mind, but I'd say these points are especially importans for Patchouli. Staggering, juggling, comboing, frame trapping, etc. are secondary values.

Now, this is just my take on her; surely there are several ways to read and play every kind of character, but I have played Hisouten as Patche for about 2 years now, if that means something. I have played her in various styles, and I'm just now starting to settle down, but I still have a way to go in terms of improvement (esp. in the match-up respect).

This may sound ironic, but the best advice I can give for a Patche player is to give Sanae a go. Sanae is a weak character in many respects, and further stresses my points on how to play Patchouli. Imo the two of them are very much alike, whereas the lack of cheapo bullets is perhaps the most important difference for someone coming from Patchouli. My point is that they're both tacticians, and you have to be one as well in order to succeed.
