A week ago, the AKB 9th gen Kenkyuuseis were put through a test. One that determines their future in AKB. Pass the test, and they get to stay in AKB. Fail it, and they will get fired. Today the results of the Kenkyuusei Selection 2010 have been announced. It isn't so much of a massacre as the last selection which took place last year.

I decided to be nice and put up a schedule for seeing AKB in Anime Expo. Since the AX thread in Stage48 and Nihongogo will be pretty busy and spammed the next few days, it's going to be difficult to keep track of the schedule. This will be updated whenever something changes. All data here is gathered from the 2 forums, just put together nicely and without the need to search through pages and pages of the forum.

Also a reminder: learn the chants, claps, shouts, name calls, glowstick calls. The hardest is remembering the 3 chants, the rest are relatively easy. AKB doesn't have any wotagei, just follow the hand movements of the girls. Check out live clips of the singles on youtube to learn the timings.

Team Dragon from AKB48 will release a single titled [Kokoro no Hane] on 21 July 2010 and the title song will be used as the ending song for Dragon Ball Kai. There will be a total of 11 versions. Yes, 11. This is probably the most number of limited editions you’ve seen in a single release from AKB48. AKB seems to be going all out on walletraep.

All 7 members of Team Dragon are upper-senbatsu girls, namely Takahashi Minami, Maeda Atsuko, Oshima Yuko, Watanabe Mayu, Kojima Haruna, Itano Tomomi and Kashiwagi Yuki. Essentially the best 7 of AKB without Mariko.

I would really encourage people to buy the limited edition(s), especially if one of these girls is your oshimen, because they come with a trading card of the selected member and a B3-sized poster, which totally makes your money worth. Also, I could be wrong but I think Team Dragon is only going to be a one-off, so if you really like the lineup, you should get Limited H as well.

Since Dragon Ball is a popular title in Japan, I have no doubt this single will sell well. With the inclusion of all upper-senbatsu members (except Mariko), success is ensured. I’m expecting around 100k first-day sales, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they surpassed that.

Anything after doesn't come with any stuff. Ponyshu is also currently in the Top 10 in the chaku uta (music ringtone) chart, Top 5 in the Full Song charts, and #1 in the Video Clips chart. Downloading from there doesn't give you a free handshake or anything like that. They also have many older songs in the Top 100 of all of these charts. Well, I neither like nor dislike the either of them, but really it's upsetting because Maeda has become the "face" of Koharu, so I'm finding it hard to accept.
