I am an old GG player, but I don't really know where to start.

First off I guess is that the physics is quite noticibly different, you don't run, jump, fall, dash, move etc the same way as in GG, though flying drains the above screen meter.
Then there are things such as how there's a flying button that is a bit more than your regular dash, letting you stay airborn and make quick dashes when needed etc.
The Guard Cancel of the game isn't really like anything in GG.
Then there are other small details such as the fact that the power bar carries over to the next round.
And even if it may not affect the actual in game gameplay that much, each character comes with their own set of moves, but you also have to select the characters arcana, and there is as many arcanas as there are cahracters and each arcana provides it's own set of extra moves and abilities to the character, while it may not change much after the match have started, it does make it so that one can adjust each character in many different ways.

There's a bunch of other stuff as well, but it really isn't a clone, if anything it has more in common with the Touhou doujin fighters.

The flying thing is limited by it's own gauge, and it is (but not limited to) geared towards homing (also called homing), it's the same for both players either way.

The Arcana thing works surprisingly well though I would say.
It doesn't change all too much though, they provide the same moves to everyone all executed in various ways with the same button, all characters are also able to choose each arcana.

Overall it's not that bad, and in the end it's a terrific game.

I can't seem to get better at them because I never stick to one character or even game for too long and I am constantly trying new things in all situations even when they will most likely fuck up. That's probably also the reason why I am bad at shmups. But I still love them.
