Just finished Swan Song. For all its hype it was poorly written.
Don't know what I'm going to play next.

I'm currently playing FSN and I have ambivalent feelings about it. Too much shonen shit and talk about food, but the characters are interesting. I don't really like Shirou though, despite being smarter so far than I expected him to be.
Tsukihime is much stronger plotwise.

Last finished Kud Wafter, waiting on Clannad Hikari Mimamoru Sakamichi De and Oretsuba After Story

Shirou gets better after Fate. I still liked Tsukihime more, though. It's not as flashy or big as F/SN but it feels like a more personal story.

I'm still planning on reading Swan Song once I get around to it, but I've seen mixed reactions to it.

Last one I finished was "Shoin, Aruiwa Ushinawareta Yume no Monogatari" (書淫、或いは失われた夢の物語。), 2000 game by Force.

The game consists of two parallel scenarios about a group of people trapped in a hotel far away from civilization, with a fair amount of mystery and bricks thrown in. Some people on EGS seem to view this game as something of a precursor to Ever17; I personally don't think the two games are similar enough to consider Ever17 a blatant ripoff, but for what it's worth, I consider Shoin a superior game.

Overall the game was very nice, and interesting enough for me to finish it in a few sittings. It does have some annoying things typical for old games, though, and I also felt some things were not explained in sufficient detail. Scenario of this game is by the main writer of the upcoming PSP game "Second Novel", which has Tanaka Romeo, Setoguchi Renya and a bunch of others as subwriters.

Playing: Higurashi. I hope that Takeno isn't responsible for any of the murdering or the photographer clawing his own throat out. That would be too obvious. I'm on chapter 2 and so far the only common thread between most of the mysterious deaths and disappearances is that all of them seem to have visited the clinic or be related to it in some way.

I thought it was better than the anime, which I didn't really enjoy. Although I wish it had actual routes for the girls rather than just 'endings' for them.

Last finished: Muvluv Extra. I thought it was average. Nothing exceptional about it whatsoever.
Currently playing: Swan Song. I'm only on chapter 3, so the plot hasn't really picked up, but it's keeping my interest so far.
Anticipating: Muvluv Unlimited/Alternative, Little Busters full patch, the last chapter of Higurashi.

I'm pretty sure I'm close to finishing the Shiori route of Real Imouto now. I won't bother with the Miki route as I don't really care for her, plus not a little sister character.
Afterwards, going to work through my backlog. Quartett! is first up followed by Ricotte. Might bump Hoshizora up to near the top of my list as well.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but have you heard of interactive fiction? It's sort of the western indie equivalent of the visual novel.

Last one that I finished was id -Rebirth Session-. It was decent read, it had potential to bit better, but it fell bit short on it. But nevertheless worth to read as long as you don't except masterpiece. Some comments: the murder mystery that it had was bit of bland in the end, but the characters were good. Overall 8/10 from me.

As for now started playing Dark Blue, just started so can't give any opinions yet. Have to love my rather random feelings which decide what I end up reading next.

As for what I'm looking foward, what I look most foward to is DiveX for more Baldr Sky goodness, and another one is Kono Uta ga Owattara ~When This Song is Over~ as I'm interested how it will try to pull horror/suspens story without using too much of gore and rape or such things, and instead tries to create it with atmosphere. Dammit for release being delayed for 2 weeks and they should release trial already.
Other than those two I'm looking foward to ML chronicles 1, GothDeri, Enbou no Felsis and few others.

Oh yeah, could those who read stuff in moon try to give bit of an opinion of the stuff they are playing as I'm always looking potential stuff to add my backlog.

Recently finished Akatsuki no Goei, currently playing Akatsuki no Goei's fan disc and Nursery Rhyme.

p.s. Kururiu's voice is a miracle of the universe.

I just finished Swan Song, it was amazing though the good ending felt a bit cheap.

Interesting VN idea (catered to my tastes and fetishes): A shota protag that accomplishes amazing deeds and accomplishes things what most men have never done. Makes all kinds of women completely infatuated with him, but not at first, since they're skeptical of him because he's a kid.
tl;dr: I want to have a shota's perspective of H-scenes. Normal women must be huge to him. There'll also be some inevitable light femdom involved.

I agree with the other anons who said that Swan Song wasn't all that good. Not that it was poorly written or anything, but it lacked that extra oomph which would pull people in. The characters were certainly realistic, and the setting rather poignant. But it felt lacking. I couldn't even finish the Good ending, I deleted it pretty quickly.

Just finished Swan Song. The setting, unique art style, and voice actors were all pretty good - but I think it fell a little short on character development.

Playing Utawareumono. Yeah, slowpoke.jpg. Absolutely loving it so far, the strategy RPG elements are super fun, and all the characters are very likable.

Waiting for the last Higurashi Kai chapter because I'm a poor gaijin who can't read moonrunes.

Install the fonts first.
Patch the game.
Use the NoDVD exe.
Move nss.npa from your main folder.
Update the Spica patch with the files from Garnet's, and then move the nss folder to the main one.
After that use Applocale and it will probably run.

Shit that went wrong when I tried to install the game:

You installed the game using a path with foreign characters. Move it to a folder with western characters only, it will work.

Either you installed the fonts wrong, or you need to set your Locale to Japanese and reboot.

Way better then I expected, cried like a little girl during the true route.

Started playing it around the time when it was released last year but some other VN/eroge got in my way and I stopped after two routes, planing on finishing it this time.

I'm finally back from real life and have tons of time for reading VNs again. First of all, I'll finish SubaHibi and read Evolimit. By that time, GothDeli will probably come out, and I'll read it, too. And then we get Muramasa fandisc and Steins;Gate, and life suddenly becomes fucking awesome.

Oh, and I can't wait for more Axanael info. Shit's going to be so cash.

The person who started playing Dark Blue here. Haven't really gotten that far yet as I'm rather slow reader, but have to say that this has been quite different from what I initially excepted it to be. But then again THAT scene hasn't come yet, so the tone of story might change after it comes. And then there are some sooo obvious flags that kinda mark that this is start of NTR route, but for first run not going there. After I have finished non-NTR routes I might go back and see how much I despair and rage on them, I really like some of the girls and just thinking that kinda alreade makes me rage and despair that there is such option. But overally so far it has been quite decent read, nothing too bad, but it isn't any masterpiece either. But still kinda entertaining to read.
