and also for re-sale value as well, while some figs might not regain their value, some double, triple and quadruple over time. depending on if they were limited release of if it's an older figure

That's a good question. I'm not sure myself, but I'm leaning towards them being rather uncommon, especially from a company like Goodsmile. It seems like it would be riskier to put out a unique design rather than modelling a character that you know has fans.
