back in the days, whan i only started to play pokemon, on my very first run of pokemon red, parasect was one of my fightning pokemons. i really liked that slow but strong guy.
later i found out that slash is much stronger by a normal pokemon, and that mega-drain is beter for pokemon with a better special attacks. i still like the 'spore' ability, but in silver i only got a parasect for 'cut'.

I like parasect. i really do. but demn, this thing is weak.

Who knows if they're going to have a lot of evolutions this time around, given that some people think that Gen V will be more like Gen III than Diamond and co. (which may mean a whole lot of ripoffs of previous gen monsters and next to no evolutions).

The biggest thing you'd have to worry about is fighting type attacks. If you can get another poke to cover that weakness, shit could be awesome.

Dark doesn't really add anything useful. Psychic sucks as an offensive type (not to mention that Steel already resists it), and the dual typing basically just makes it weaker against Bug and Fighting attacks.

It's soppused to be a child game. no parent in the wastern world will buy any of the pokemon franchise or go to a pokemon movie if word about eroga from nintendo comes out.

Mawile doesn't need an extra type. There aren't enough mono-Steel types to begin with. If Mawile evolves, it should just stay Steel type.

Yeah, the Steel typing helps the dark typing more than vice-versa.
Still, 2 immunities and a plethora of resistances is nothing to scoff at. Even less so when you consider the attack drop from Intimidate or god knows what other awesome new ability they could give it in 5th gen. You say it makes Steels weaker, I say it makes Darks stronger.

Either way, it's an interesting typing I sure wouldn't mind seeing.

Thematically, Steel/Dark makes the most sense. Mawile's pretty much the embodiment of feigning weakness to catch others off-guard and ready a killing blow. And underhandedness as well as being bad in general are textbook Dark/Evil type traits.

It's just that Dark kinda sucks paired with Steel because Steel either wants a really offensive type to pack a punch with or a type that fills in its defensive holes. Dark does neither.

I case you forgot, Psychics were god mode back in the day with opposing psychics (or chansey) being the only pokes that can take their attacks. Dark helped remedy that a little.

Dark is basically the 'Evil' type, created because Fighting sucked and Psychic dominated in Gen 1. It didn't help that basically nothing resisted Psychic attacks back then, Bug attacks were garbage, and the only Ghost attack that checked type did 0 damage against Psychics.

Although it's softened a bit in the anime, Dark moves are all about using dirty moves like ganging up on your opponent and biting people, manipulating evil energy, and generally acting like a dick. It beats psychics mostly because psychics were too powerful in Gen 1 and loses to bugs/fighters because Gen II was basically a small but belated apology to bug/fighting types (also fair and structured fighting overcomes sneaky tactics, I guess).

Incidentally, Gen II's type chart changes made Psychic an even worse attacking type than it was back in Gen I where EVERYBODY used a psychic, so it's part of the reason why nobody uses Psy moves except for STAB.

I don't really follow Digimon, to be honest. The games suck and I came in at a bad time for the TV series, what with the four original series and Data Squad pretty much over. Mostly just was there because I saw Glamour Works' takes on the female digimon then scared away because everybody wanted to focus on Renamon and the babies instead.
