One of the better Touhou figs that Griffon popped up. Their previous Youmu is beautiful. One thing that I didn't liked about it is that she wears panties instead of bloomers and it looks like they fixed that problem in this 1/7 figure.

Don't know if I'll be getting it though but I'm sure to buy their Mokou and Keine (if it looks good when painted). Pic somewhat related.

I can't really say I liked the previous Youmu so much, it just didn't do it for me. I've gotten a few of the Griffon figs and while it's nice to have some Touhou figs I really wish they'd be a bit more interesting.

This so much. When I see people with the full Griffon collection I always ;_; at the waste of money and shelf-space. My favorite in the line-up so far is probably Komachi, she is the only one I consider above-decent. I might get her if I find a decent auction.


And am I the only one who finds the line-up to be a bit weird character-wise? Just the fact that they have both Kaguya and Eirin, while there's original MoF-characters? Sanae would sell like hotcakes even if she was Griffon-tier. If they are going to make such random choices of characters they might as well chose characters I like ;_; Sure Komachi and Eiki was a pleasant surpise but... if it was Iku and/or Tenshi I'd preorder like the fist of the north star, given they were not absolutely terrible.

My one problem with the figs is that the ONLY seller that I can find in Akihabara is Griffon. I hardly ever see anything else.

That's one thing I don't like from the Touhou Griffon figs. Sure, some figs have great sculpts, paints, etc but the one thing they manage to fuck up are the faces.

Their generic face tends to work with only some of the characters. Shiki's looks fine, but the hair's on the wrong side. Tewi's face is good, Komachi's is okay. It depends on the character.

Their Patchy looks a little sad, though.

Generic faces is one thing, I'm more about how they don't have any expressions. They really look like statues.

I liked Komachi and Flandre for actually having a facial expression and bodies that look natural and not super stiff.

Well, there is reason fot that, for example there is allready two Sanaes (one by T-system and one by [ques Q]), (not to mention GSC Nendoroid).

Well, the overall character popularity is the case (probadly). Still, so many touhou figs this year, at this rate we will see just every character pretty soon.

Just because other companies already made a Sanae doesn't mean they still can't make any money on her. Besides, neither of those, not counting the Nendoroid, have not made it beyond pre-orders yet. Griffon could have made a Sanae among their earlier figurines and she would have been the first Sanae PVC to be mass-produced.

Sure, they do seem to prioritize characters that haven't been made into figurines yet, but the lack of the MoF cast is still weird. There's always characters like Suwako, Kanako and Nitori. I understand why they'd make Mokou/Keine, but Eientei is like the least popular bunch. Heck, even Iku and Tenshi both scored higher than Eirin and Kaguya in the latest popularity poll.

My friend has that one, and actually keeps her on a shelf pretty high up. I think she's one of the somewhat better ones, even if only because her face is good. Comparing her to Remilia, who my friend also has, Flandre clearly is the better one. The paint is glossier, the colors are nicer, the pose and details are a bit nicer... also, the face is better.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen ANYTHING past MoF. Nothing from SA, and nothing from UFO. An Okuu or Kogasa figure would definitely make it to the top of my "must buy" list...but right now I'm just waiting on the Reisen.

General question. What do you guys think of this Sanae? Would you get it? I might, but I don't like the colors and her legs look a bit weird. In a way, I like T's Sanae better, but then again, that was the only one of their figurines I really liked. Too bad they both have green eyes. Do not want.

I'm pretty sure most hardcore garage kit builders don't use a brush except for the super duper detailed parts. They use lots and lots of masking and super expensive airbrushes.

I still wish I could find a picture of that Miku garage kit that someone did. She was only wearing panties and he had airbrushed on a bright red skin hue across her ass so it looked like she had just gotten the spanking of a lifetime.

I know, but it sometimes makes me clear my head. I'm still unsure about this one but, the thing is, the more I look at it the less I like it. I like her curves and pose, but the style is pretty generic and boring. Also the color scheme. Sanae's hair is green, not Hatsune Miku-colored.

I might just get T's, even if it more expensive. If only the eyes were yellow ;_; I've seen the same sculpt painted as a resin kit, it looks so much better. Pic related.

Not to belittle the skill that goes into these kits (there is still an absolute shit-ton) but a lot of it has to do with the tools. The painfully expensive, $300 a nozzle airbrushes and whatnot.

The best garage kit painter in the world would probably come out with something shitty looking if you handed him crap paints and a single, shitty nylon brush.

This is where most "noobs" fail, or don't even start. Dropping some coin on the kit, and then dropping another $1,000 USD or so for some bad-ass painting gear and spending a lot of time learning how to use it doesn't appeal to most people.

I expect to see a lot of painted versions of the figures displayed at the previous wonfes.

Max Factory just made a figma Luka, so I have a hunch that GSC is working on some type of luka scale figure.
