What does /jp/ think of Tsukihime?

I finished it only recently, but i really enjoyed it, it was a simple, good story. The heroines were all likable and developed, and Nasu style was bearable.

Shiki understands social situations, he just doesn't mesh well because of his personality. His problems really stem from being generally nice to everyone, without realizing that being nice can also mean being dismissive. Sacchin was really the only one he truly "didn't get," but that was more because of her own nature than just him being thick.

That's less his fault and more Nasu's fault.
>And his opinions about women...
Now in what way does that have to do with being dumb or not?
Anyway, what's wrong? He basically has the "Girls are precious, they shouldn't need to be exposed to bad/sad thing, if anyone have to, then why not a man instead" type of mentality, it might be oldfashioned but then what?

>Well, it's also Shirou's inability to pick up on simple social cues and his lack of self-preserving behaviour.
Sure this one's granted but it's not really as if it's without reason and missing such details doesn't automatically make one a moron and the lack of self-preserving behaviour is more of a priority and choice thing, it's not exactly as if he doesn't understand what he is doing.

Anyway this is basically it.
>Wow, he's kind of a moron, isn't he?
Really? Is he?
If this is enough to make one a moron then lots and lots of people are morons.
To make an example relevant to this thread, Shiki would be no more of a brainer than Shirou, and if this is all that it takes then a vast number of characters in fiction all together would be considered morons.

The issue in Fate is that the first two times Saber fights she get seriously injured, which is what most likely causes Shirou's opinion of her to form this way compared to UBW where Saber doesn't get harmed much, if at all in the Berserker encounter.

>> No.5438507

A noteworthy thing about Shirou is how he is weak in social situations pointed towards himself and not social situations in general.

It goes hand in hand with "lack of self-preserving behaviour".

Shirou is a wallflower and "good guy," and isn't someone that places a personal interest in doing something right, other than the fact that it was right.

If he helped an old woman across the street, he'd disappoint her by not sticking around to be thanked for it, as he's already moving on to find someone else to assist.

People knew Superman loved them, because he was a douchebag. People knew Spiderman loved them, because he'd crack jokes and point out how not to act stupid. He is genuinely concerned for her if you see his reactions in UBW.
