For what it is, MoF is a good game. But I played it after Perfect Cherry Blossom and Imperishable Night, so it felt it was very stripped and dumbed down. I mean, come on ZUN, you won't even give us a Graze Counter? The system also encourages bombing instead of making it a penalty, which is totally backwards from previous Touhou games. The game is also much easier, I feel, than the others (at least on Normal and Hard) and Extra is almost a joke. Still, the bullet patterns and music don't dissapoint

tl,dr: Good for Touhou noobs, not for veterans.

No. In every game except MoF and PoFV bombing is a penalty for your score. Especially if you lose a life then immediately bomb right after.

Bombing induces scoring penalties in every game, and is especially crippling in PCB. MoF is the only Touhou game where bombing in particular places will actually result in an INCREASE in your score.

I agree, and I'll tell you why it's the best Touhou game:

-shit bomb system finally removed. There was always one spell card/bomb that was heads and shoulders above the other choices in the older Touhou games. No variety there.

-Most polished graphics out of every Touhou game so far. Also, best hraphic effects.

-ZUNs best soundtrack in a long time. His music has far more structure than in the previous games. It's less amateurish.

-The new weapon systems are wonderful, and are for the most part balanced (except that usual Marisa bug ZUN loves to leave in for most games). The game now has more variety. Once you master one weapon system, you can move on to the next. Oh, and Marisa has Gradius options now. Fucking awesome.

-ZUNs best cast of characters since.. well ever. He basically created them with the possiblities for fan-content in mind. The Moriya characters backgrounds are far more fleshed out than previous "enemy" characters.

Only bad thing about the game: The game is a joke on normal/easy difficulty. ZUN obviously mainly focused on the gameplay experience for the higher difficulties. Which sorta makes sense anyway, as Touhou has always been for the Japanese players that are hardcore shootan' fags. MOF Lunatic difficulty is the fucking greatest.

I like MoF the best because it is the most fun to play.

weeaboos are the ONLY ones who hate Mountain of Faith, and that's because they fucking play on easy/normal mode, and ZUN don't give two shits about the people who play on EASY/NORMAL MODE

No self-respecting Japanese gamer would ever bother with easy/normal

Mountain of Faith has the best cast. That's all.

Bombspammers probably have never beaten the game because of Kanako's last spell, which is one of my favorites.
