Dunno, seems like a valid point to me. Nobody "plays" a VN, they just sit back and watch it. Only difference is a recording would move at it's own pace and not wait for you to finish reading.... Or you'd just keep having to slam space bar to pause the video... which is exactly how you'd play the VN anyways (space, space, space)
