She can't be faster than a Blackbird that's for sure; the friction generated at those speeds (Mach 3) warps the fucking titanium frame in that plane from the heat, which is why it has corrugated slats on the wings to account for the stress.

Unless of course all Touhous have some kind of magic anti-friction barrier.

The fastest birds known can dive at a couple hundred miles per hour, so Aya is probably somewhere around that range.

Sakuya is more of a lady's companion than a plain domestic servant, with responsibilities that extend to the running and well being of the entire mansion. So if Remi ordered her to do something that would damage the function or reputation of the household, Sakuya would be expected to inform her of the consequences before.
That doesn't change the fact that ultimately Sakuya obeys Remilia's every whim, no matter the consequences, without a hint of doubt or regret. Anything else would be unthinkable.

You check your handy, in-depth guide to Gensokyo you purchased from Akyu years ago. Best purchace you ever made.
Well, was, maybe...whatever.

You flip through to the section on tengu, and skim to eating habbits. It's more or less the same stuff you would eat...though...here we go. Tengu like eggs.
You get the feeling that you didn't need to get out your book for this and that the choice of dinner should have been incredibly obvious from the start, but quickly brush it off.

A short while latter, you've a modest meal of eggs sitting on the table. Right on time, there is a knock on the door. Answering it, you find a large, burly man hauling a human-sized bag over his shoulder squeezing through your doorway. He deposits it at your feet, hands you a small note, and leaves without a word.
The bag doesn't move.

>She's pretty broken in already, but if you need any of the crap she had on her when she was brought in, stop by where we made the sale, aight?
>Thanks again, buddy.
>R

You set the note down and look at the sack. Still no movement. You kneel down and poke it a few times. It moves with your proding, but doesn't otherwise respond. With your head closer to it, however, you can hear some quiet breathing.

Openning the bag, you find...Aya. Right, Aya. You find Aya, naked, spralled in no noteworthy fasion. She does not react to your gaze in the slightest, and stares blankly ahead.

Considering the one CYOA I wrote started off with Yukari acting like the fucking G-Man, I'm not sure I'd be qualified. However, the one I made was REALLY open-ended and I could post the beginning around the same time every night to explore different possibilities...and it would also help me keep down on writing a whole lot of new content if people followed a familiar route to specific branches.

- Report only the first post in the thread. Subsequent posts in the same thread are a waste of your time and report juice.
- Report silently. Posting that you reported the thread may encourage onlookers to do the same thing, but more likely it will just encourage the OP to bump his thread.
- Report often. If you see a bad thread, don't just hide it. Report it first.

Fanfiction is usually written by people who wrote a few stories in their free time and think they're prolific writers. I'm mainly doing it to try to regain some of my creative spark and then move on to actual original fiction. Point.
Getting back to the original point, however, CYOAs are not roleplaying for reasons you already stated. In roleplaying, you play as a predetermined character, and must adhere to what said character would do. You CAN say "fuck that" and call yourself Alice and stutter all over the place, but you're doing a pretty horrible job at roleplaying, then.

In CYOAs, however, you control the character. As long as the writer approves, you can do whatever, regardless of it fitting character or not.

Roleplaying is playing out a set role, CYOAing is chosing your own adventure.

I always saw /a/ as FoTM. Anime is a fast industry and I actually appreciated contemporary discussion as opposed to talking about older materials since that never got anywhere to begin with. I check there once in a while to check on the shows that I'm following of any given season.

Roleplaying was rampant there as well, and it was just as frustrating to read it. No CYOA's, which I view as much more mild on the scale. So long as the writing's good, audience interaction with a writer usually turns out for the best. The fact that it's Touhou related means that it fits here. At any rate, they're much more interesting to read than the powerlevel shitfits that people get into.

My comment is that /jp/ is becoming stagnant, so a CYOA or fiction is fine every once in a while. THP is a board completely dedicated to it. While something like that is nice, I don't feel like wading through a ton of bad fanfiction to find the diamond in the rough. Here, if one appears, it's bound to be the only one and you can judge its quality almost immediately. Fanfiction helps with variety, which is severely lacking on some days.

>>5389686

I had several things planned out in mine, but was just making up stuff as I go. I do have a regular story sitting in a notebook that is just about Kogasa, but the fact that it lacks audience interaction makes it less fun to write. From my perspective, doing CYOA shows a bit more creativity if done well; you have to adapt to whatever the audience wants to happen. Tabletop RPG's are built around the concept of creative player interaction, and can be amazingly fun or mindnumbingly boring, depending on the GM.

Writing a lengthy character or setting description tends to make the writing drag on for much longer than it should. You have an imagination for a reason. I don't like that idea only because they can go on for a very long time and actually become 404'd before any end is in sight. A better policy would be that the OP/writer is the only one who is allowed to bump, either to garner more interest or just to keep the thread alive. People making choices should sage so that it's not on the front page for too long of a time; story installments take a while to write, especially if one bothers thinking them out.

>> No.5389832

Why are we arguing over CYOA threads? Idol threads are way less /jp/-related and we tolerate those (for some reason.)

>> No.5389844

I'm still trying to figure out why /jp/ hates CYOAs, besides the obvious shitstorms.
/jp/ is always talking about how they want to be with their waifu and go to Gensokyo and blah blah blah. Shouldn't they like pretending to do that, then?

>> No.5389845

>>5389792
>My comment is that /jp/ is becoming stagnant, so a CYOA or fiction is fine every once in a while.
That's a laudable goal, but many here would argue that CYOAs negatively affect board quality. And a Touhou CYOA, no matter how unpopular, would eventually dominate the board. We've seen it happen before. As someone who left /a/ because of thread spam, I can assure you every non-Touhou fan (and several Touhou fans who hate fanfiction) will be up in arms about it.

>While something like that is nice, I don't feel like wading through a ton of bad fanfiction to find the diamond in the rough. Here, if one appears, it's bound to be the only one and you can judge its quality almost immediately. Fanfiction helps with variety, which is severely lacking on some days.
Conversely, as a CYOA fan, I would rather visit a site with plenty of CYOAs to pick and choose from, with several well-established authors who have had popular CYOAs in the past. /jp/ is a blank slate, but it's also much too fast, and the writers untested.

You are free to do as you wish, but I counsel against it.

>There are good CYOAs and, dare I say it, roleplayers

Alright, then let's run a very simple test. These people from touhouproject who founded an exclusively CYOA site are supposedly from /jp/, which means we can infer that the sorts of things they write are going to be a reasonable measure of what we could expect if there were CYOAs on /jp/. Are you still with me? Okay:

Show me one "good" CYOA out of the dozens on that site. .

Another reason why I don't plan on going to THP is because of the established writers dominating the boards. You may be sort of hiding it beneath all that accepting, logical and 'civilized' posting but when it comes down to it you're a) beating a dead horse with regards to /jp/, b) being convinced that a more appropriate site is some sort of secret club without bothering to really check and c) being highly judgmental overall.

It may be time to stop posting. Go to thp, continue writing here (and risk getting reported and/or banned) or fuck off. That's what it boils down to. Pick one.

The fact that stories there are several threads long and get more exposure is kind of proof that exposure would be a bit low. Trying to keep a thread alive isn't something I'm interested in.

I know I'm judgmental. That usually happens when you're giving your opinion on a matter. I'm open to discussion and prefer to actually hear one side of an argument as opposed to dismiss it, but don't expect me to just accept your points without making my own.

If I want a longer project then I'll just write regular fiction. Immediate audience interaction makes things quicker.

If I think too much about what I'm writing I end up trashing a project (even academic papers) because I always view it as utter shit that should not have been written in the first place. I hardly ever go back and edit anything unless it's a typo; going back and editing content usually makes me either trash the whole idea or completely rewrite the plot so that the rest has to undergo major edits in order to fit in.
