I always imagined it would be more like this:
-Yuka captures the avatars of Spring, Winter, and Fall, disrupting the internal weather system of the Great Barrier
-As planned, little-seen avatar of Summer is forced awake and Gensokyo barrier warps
-Presence of avatar of Summer excessively heats Gensokyo, which draws Reimu to her first rather than Yuka
-Incarnation of the last dragon-god (cute loli) emerges from the border for Yuka to battle.
