Contact Social Security and apply. You need to have been treated for it, and they'll make you go see at least one psychiatrist to get evaluated. It took me 6 months or so to get approved, and I got a lump sum payment from the time I applied. I get $700 a month now.

If I'm paranoid and a germaphobe, do you think I have a chance of getting on welfare?

Actually, I would need to go see somebody in person about it, but I don't think I can do that. What am I supposed to do when I am too terrified to even go out in public?

Need to have been treated for it? Already done. I've been in a couple temporary stay psych wards a total of 5 times, and was at a residential treatment facility for 2 years (which is basically a nicer version of a long-term stay psych ward). I had a few therapists, a phsyciatrist, and took various benzoes, antidepressants, antipsychotics, etc. I'm not taking anything now, and haven't been in a psych ward for about a year now, but I should still be eligible, right?

Is that good enough or will I have to get re-evaluated or something?

Also, should I apply online, on the phone, etc.?

I'll appreciate any and all help you can give me.

>> No.5374210

>>5374194

Probably not. I'm not even sure how my diagnosis happened, I went for generic depression/social anxiety as well. I think they think the reason I'm a paranoid schizophrenic is because I happen to be very vocal about the things I think.

Like I didn't drink some milk I wanted last week because I genuinely thought it was laced with cyanide. I couldn't take that chance. Then I dumped it all out. Protecting my family, see.

You sound like you have more of a history than I do, since I've never been in a psych ward. I imagine you'd be eligible, it's worth a shot at least. I applied online, you'll need your medical history with dodctos' names, etc. handy at some point most likely. It can be a time-consuming process, but it's worth it.

I know you said you're done for the night, but maybe someone else with a similar experience can help.

I read carefully and it said you not only have to submit info about your physical or psychiatric disability, but you also have to have paid Social Security long enough to qualify. I've only had a couple jobs, where I was paid under-the-table, and this one job where I got tax-exempt income. So I've never really paid tax or Social Security before. Can I still qualify somehow?

If the US government gives perfectly capable niggers money for sitting around doing nothing, they should give me money for having legitimate mental problems and being unable to function in a normal place of work. Right?

SSDI is pretty limited. SSI can be better, though it often doesn't pay quite as well. But it lasts longer. If I remember correctly, SSDI runs out after 5 years, whereas SSI lasts as long as you're approved. Could be wrong though, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.
