My problem with Yandere is when the protagonist is spineless and terrified of her all the time (like in Dream Diary).

Since this is /jp/, how about we get a VN Yandere roll call going on? Yandere touhous and their doujins would be welcome as well.

Starting off, since I suggested it.

Kohaku doesn't fit the stereotype exactly, but I like characters that aren't carbon copies of the cliche. I like that her psychotic behavior is an attempt to mimic the humanity she no longer feels, and putting on a happy face while being devoid of emotion is a refreshing contrast to legions of rei clones going "..."

Sakura is more like the standard yandere, but in a way she really isn't because she actually seems LESS obsessed with the protagonist when she goes insane. Her appeal is less in her relationship with the protagonist than her cold attitude and character design.

bullshit. yanderes are actually cheaper, since you don't have to buy their love with expensive trinkets, dates and shit.

you just sleep with her, do her in all orifices as often as you can and generally stay with her. then tell her to go to the kitchen and browse /jp/.

Higurashi girls of course deserve special mention for being really creepy and threatening and insane. Even if that's sometimes because the protagonist is imagining it. Their appeal is more an adrenaline situation. They say in psychology that humans can confuse cause and effect. Apparently it's good to see the one you love right after that person has been exercising, because they may come to think their flushed face and shortness of breath comes from their reaction to you, unconsciously.
I think the appeal of higurashi girls is that they confuse feels of fear and desire, since they're normally all pretty affectionate when not psychotic.
