How CPU heavy is this game? I can't run the later Touhou without FPS dropping. Is 12.3 as extensive?

I've tried this on an old computer which couldn't run MoF or any later game without slowing down in the later stages, and it worked just fine at a solid 60FPS. There were some small graphical glitches though, like Utsuho's cape being bright magenta color, and some bullets missing some effects. Nothing too bad.

Here are the specs: 1,8GHz Pentium 4, 1GB RAM, Radeon 7500 with 64MB video memory.

Chances are, if you can run IN / PoFV without any slowdown then this'll probably work too.

Also, I think this game requires more from your graphics card than other Touhou games, which seem to rely more on the CPU. If your computer is old and you have an integrated graphics chip, then you might be out of luck. Think of that Radeon 7500 as a minimum requirement.

Looks like the recommended system requirements given by Tasofro include a 1GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, and a GeForce 6600 GPU, with 128MB of video memory.

I'm not competely sure how the card drop system works, but judging by my own cards, I'm assuming the following:

The card drops are only semi-random. A few of the cards you get after a match are selected on random, not depending on your character. However, most of the cards you get are the ones either you or your opponent used during that match. That's why you keep getting the same cards over and over, if you use them during the game.

At first, you'll keep unlocking new cards from random drops, but the more you unlock, the smaller the chance for the random cards to be something you don't have yet. The best way to unlock the last missing cards is via netplay, hoping your opponent might use them which will greatly improve your chances for unlock.

Finally, I don't know if some cards are just more rare than others.

The first one is the hardest, after that you can just put the card into your deck and start playing against the CPU, using that card during the round. So was the problem with Kaguya and Mokou that they'd just be too overpowered? I get a bit mixed feeling from the Touhou wiki, with both Kaguya's and Mokou's articles implying that just their intended movesets would've been unbalanced, and there wasn't time to fix that, yet it's stated in the game's article that they'd just be too strong.

It's not like the battles in Hisoutensoku are really serious anyway, we've already got Yukari, Remilia, Yuyuko and such fighting against some of the weaker characters. And then there's Cirno as well.

I tried canceling my 6B bullets into the sword system card to avoid getting hit by you. It never hit my mind to try canceling into a 214 or 623 which apparently works just as well. Well, stuff like this might not be so obvious at 3AM.

You should be more careful when throwing out those bullets. Especially when I'm in the corner, I can easily escape between your waves of coins, usually allowing me to punish you as well.

I didn't, though today I felt that I could concentrate a lot better than last time. I didn't do nearly as many retarded alt 623 reversals when playing Yuyuko, for example. I also tried a bit calmer approach against your Komachi, since I feel I get beaten whenever I try more aggressive tactics against you.

Oh, one last thing. I absolutely hate that pink spellcard of yours, 'Hell "Narrow Confines of Avici"'. I waste a lot of my own cards just trying to keep you away when you have that card active. I really need to come up with something against that.

I had the strange impression that you dropped Youmu's rekka. It makes your press a lot easier to escape, because everything you do after a 5AAA 3/6A can be countered by a graze. You should really try the alt. 236 pink circles, it's really great because once you hit with 6A you can connect tight 236B and do something like instant j6A. It also works with 66A > 236B, but it's so damn easy to missinput it into a 623B. 66A into rekka also seems decent.

I don't really like them but since default 236 is useless against some characters, I might make a new deck for that.

I've added Aya and Yuyuko to my roster recently, but as you can see, there's still a lot for me to figure out with them. Aya's Illusionary Dominance seems like a waste of cards, at least until I learn to control it properly. With the final hit missing, the damage is pretty pathetic for a 5-card move. With Yuyuko, I keep using that alt 623 reversal move way too much.

Aya has pretty pathetic (spellcard)damage in general. Even if they seem like a waste of cards to you after playing some one like Youmu or Alice who do like 3900 off dialA into 3 card spell, they still add to your damage and most of them have a use. Illusionary Dominance combos off 2A. It also does great damage if the first hit whiffs or you crush with it so it just needs a little setup.
Default fanspin for Yuyuko is something I wouldn't want to give up. Grazes instantly, not airblockable and necessary for many combos.

I'm late to the party, but I think it depends a lot on how you unlock them. I used to get dozens of cards by 1ccing normal story mode. I think the more fights you win in a row, the more cards you get. Also, taking a continue resets the level so you do not get more the further you get if you use continues.

I just played through most story modes on normal (then easy just to see the difference) and after that I had everything unlocked.

Of course the power goes out right before someone hosts

Usually, when someone gets hit with a meaty 5a into dial-a-combo every time they get up off of the ground it's safe to assume that they don't know how to block. It would certainly explain why you're mashing on wakeup here instead of just blocking the hit. It's kind of boring playing against someone who has no defense. Every time they get up they just get knocked right back down until the round is over. Also, I saw that you were trying to DP on wakeup too. DPs don't have invincibility frames until level 1; if you try to DP on wakeup before leveling the skill up it'll get stuffed. Even after it's leveled up it's easy to bait out so using it too often isn't a good idea. The best option on wakeup is always to block.

You'll get better eventually. I was one of the worst players when this game came out. I'm close to being tourneyfag good, just dont have anyone strong enough to practice with regularly which keeps me at the level i am now. Continually picking up bad habits from playing the lower players on /jp/ is the worst
