Japanese made me retarded.

It started a couple months ago; fed up with not being able to understand my raw Moetan episodes I decided to teach myself Japanese. Not only could I watch, but I could then sub. I had high hopes for myself, a dream, a goal that I could set my sights on for the future.

The first week, Hiragana. I was averaging 10 a day, full of excitement that I could at the very least pronounce most of the words in my mangos. I would laugh with the tremendous force of a thousand cattle at the weeaboos who couldn't even say 'kawaii' correctly, those low level swine. The days flew by, before I knew it I had mastered Katakana and had a handful of Kanji memorized. Things were going well, that is until I got lazy.

It first happened at school. I was with my study group reading aloud from a textbook and among the technical terms I saw I word I was unfamiliar with, and naturally pronounced it like a Japanese native. I could feel my face burning, no big deal I told myself, and continued on. As things turned out, this would be a foreshadowing of the worst to come.

I was following along with the karaoke of the opening of whatever anime I had currently held an interest in and then my cell phone rang. 'Mushi Mushi' I said. I felt like the biggest weeaboo on the planet. My friend didn't pay much mind to it, so I got off easy.

A couple days later, at that same friend's house during a party. I opened the door, to be greeted be a man with a video camera; I let talked to him for a while, went back inside and thought nothing of it. It might have just been me, but the way everyone was treating me that night was a bit unusual. The next day, I saw the video.

I couldn't believe my ears. I watched as I opened the door and said 'herro' to the man. I sounded like a Japanese immigrant, one that could hardly speak English at that. People started to avoid me. My friends stopped calling me, never again did they invite me to their parties. I gave up learning Japanese, and you should too /jp/. Don't become like me, quit while you still can; or you too could become retarded, by Japanese.
