I'd say it depends on the real-world power of danmaku, the limits of theirs abilities and the advantage of surprise. Besides the immortals, biological warfare could eliminate most of them easily and I doubt they can resist a nuke. Yukari, Yuyuko and the likes can be troublesome but I doubt they can fight off the whole planet at once. Unless Yukari gap the whole world out of existence but ya'know, no fight with her is fair.

I'd say that if those from Gensokyo were here to invade/conquer, they wouldn't need danmaku. Some of the lesser bosses can be pretty devastating going by their powers and not necessarily their danmaku. Example: Yamame, despite being a Stage 1 boss, could simply manipulate a cure-less and contagious disease to level a population.

As others have said, I for one welcome our Gensokyo overlords.

Gensokyo gets immigrants every once in a while, so there must yet be some holdouts in the outside world who haven't given up. And if all of Gensokyo dropped back in, so to speak, I'm sure the concentration of mystical power would be enough to overcome the skepticism in the area. Also, Japan loves their traditional monsters, so there's enough background there for them to thrive even without their fantasy land.

As well, there'd be tons of casualties if the border ever came down. Gensokyo would telefrag the entire region it used to be in.

Things are defined differently in Gensokyo's universe than they are in our own. Magic is an integral and obvious part of life there, and that is even true to some extent outside of the border (after all, we see a lot of magic come in from the outside world in canon).

However, our own universe is non-magical, and does not rely on magic or even define entities or energies in such terms.

Any entity traveling from one universe to another is essentially traveling between sets of definitions and rules for existence, and so the entity would need to be converted by that universe (or convert itself) into a form that is well-understood by the new universe.

Basically, that would reduce all of the horribly powerful youkai, spirits and even humans to some more manageable form... and in some cases the translation may wind up destroying necessary structures for these beings to exist as sentient entities.

So yes, I would say we would not only win, but we'd never know we were being invaded.

I always interpreted Yuyuko's ability as this: she releases a kind of psychic shockwave that causes people's fail to simply belly-up, no warning whatsoever. She can focus on specifically targeting someone or killing everyone within a certain radius. The souls released from the dead become butterflies and simply fly off.

Remilia's is a little more... tricky. May need time to boil over some ideas.

I would also expect them to not expect us being 6,697,254,041. As far as we know, Gensokyo is relativly small so their idea of a big army isn't the same as ours.

I see it this way. With an exception of a few, they can't hurt us, and we cant hurt them. Our weaponry would have no affect against their homeland, Gensokyo, that's protected by a powerful barrier that not even youkai can tamper with. In order to force a stalemate we would have to disable their offensive capabilities. Here's how: Kill Utsuho by taking her off guard with the power of our thermal nuclear weaponry (e.g., next-gen tsar bombas). Bribe Marisa or Reimu to get us in a good enough position to assassinate Yukari (probably using some type [CERN tier] rail gun).

The only way we could have a total victory is if we were able to discover what keeps Gensokyo ticking. Then it would be as simple as killing Reimu and bombing the hell out of Gensokyo's inhabitants before they get a chance to escape.

Yeah, the Lunarians were winning so badly that Reisen ended up fleeing for her life. Just the fact that Reisen, the former pet of the moonbitches was on the frontlines is a testament to how bad things were getting. And as you read in Kaguya's profile, the Americans were actually getting the best of the Lunarians up until a certain point. The only reason why they lost is because they weren't able to secure the capital. Stop trying to write this off as a light hearted segment from SSiB. Lots of Lunarians and moon rabbits gave their lives for their countrymen. Not for honor but for duty.
