Look at Hero of Leaf Valley for example. From the very beginning the game basically tells you to start GRINDING YOUR ASS OFF. You can't just kick back and do things at your leisure,you have to get a goddamn schedule ready,scrounging up all the cash you can.

Oh and the time progression in it is horrible. Absolutely horrible. It's so fucking slow they should've given you an option to choose what time you wake up or atleast something to speed it up. I rarely ever found myself surpassing even the 3:00 PM mark.

One version does. There's a fix for it but the fixed version doesnt allow you to advance in the mines. Not that it really matters though since at one point in this particular Harvest Moon game,you're going to notice just how slow and tedious things are and if you have the option of cheating,will gladly take it at some point.

The saves are incompatible since the Patched version is basically the Japanese game the english Script inserted. I tried switching between them myself after learning there was a version with SFX myself. Oddly enough though I never even noticed there was supposed to be SFX in the first place.

The one in the center I watered when I upgraded the watering can so it'd stretch 2 tiles in front, at least. By day 30 of whatever season, I'd chop out the excess and get the fine ripened veggie out instead of always having one square free.

Most crops, when you plant them, are distributed in a 3x3 square around you. However, as crops grow, you will be unable to step on them, so without an upgraded watering can you cannot reach the center crop to water it, and it ends up being neglected and it MAKES THE WHOLE CROP SQUARE LOOK WEIRD AND UNBALANCED.

My first HM was Back to Nature.
Later then I played Friends of Mineral Town for GBA which is a remake of Back to Nature but a very good one.Wonderful Life was kinda disappointing but it was still okay.

Even FoMT had plenty of bugs and annoyances. The only saving factor was that you could have the harvest sprites run your entire farm for you once you fed them enough, so all you had to do was layout the planting and such, then let the sprites do the rest. Considering how annoying it was to deal with the mine, cook, and everything else, that was a blessing.

Although I don't like the fact that most of the alternate males could NTR you at any moment while you were trying the harem approach to getting up hearts. A couple of them were bros, and they chose the ones I never wanted, but I wanted to kill certain ones.

Problem was that you were talking to them. If their relationship value with you increases to a certain height, it'll activate them going after a girl. Solution: Don't talk to the guy who is programmed to go after your girl ever, at least until after marriage.

And Rune Factory Frontier has farm automation as well. It's a tad more complex, but it works beautifully.
