Well, some people want more complexity and diversity than HADOUKEN HADOUKEN (opponent jumps) SHORYUKEN in the corner. Even in the game mechanics, there's a lot more variety/complexity because the core system comes from Guilty Gear for the most part.

Superjump, Double Jump, Air Dash, Barrier, Instant Block, Rapid Cancel, unique drive specials, and several other factors unique to the characters themselves. And there's the people who love to learn tons of different combos that pay off instead of needing just frames just to chain two moves together.

That's why some people will stay with BlazBlue and prefer it. Both are viable fighters for the competitive crowds. Continuum Shift is even better since it fixed most of the balance issues and fixed the overpowering abilities of the zoning type characters.

Reaction: Instant Blocking, Anti Air, Dragon Punch
Spacing: Super Jump, Double Jump, Air Dash

D mash with Noel: You get counter hit after the first move if you don't spring raid (which in itself, is unsafe, huge risk)

D mash with Taokaka: No real damage, no proper spacing via cancels, extremely punishable when used incorrectly.

D mash with Ragna: Whiffs and has huge recovery. It's more for in-combo material.

D mash with Carl: Not even possible, has to be held down to control Nirvana.

D mash with Bang: Huge recovery on whiff, only autoblocks certain things. If you don't know what they are and whiff teleport to use, you're getting hit.

D mash with Hakumen: Counters have to be pretty precise. They also do no damage on their own.

D mash with Tager: Slow, high recovery.

D mash with Rachel: Doesn't have a direct attack effect, it controls the wind in a specific direction to be used with all of her other specials and attacks.

D mash with Tsubaki: It's just a charge for a meter, does not provide direct damage.

D mash with Litchi: Activates her staff in different ways. Not able to be spammed.

That leaves Arakune, Hazama and Lambda that have drives somewhat abusable and formidable by themselves. Those are all mid tier characters in CS.

Frankly, I think there is no low tier in CS. There's the top (Bang and Litchi), the high (Ragna, Hakumen, Carl), and then there's the rest, then there's Rachel. Tager/Tsubaki/Noel is still on the same tier as the rest of the mid, imo. And the gap between the tiers is much lower than CS. Overall, a great update to the balance of the game.

Already perfected it, and the difficult non-taunt combos which require awkward delays and drive cancels everywhere as well.

Also, fuck Rachel vs Taokaka in CT. You block one thing, and both your barrier and libra is gone even if you instant block tons of it. I still manage in it a lot better than Arakune vs. Taokaka though, at least I can use my regular strategies against Rachel to start up my own offense. Can't do that against Arakune.

He was my main in CT. I'm not fond of playing top tier characters though. I'm thinking of moving to Hazama; watching the ranbat videos on youtube of Zakiyama made me feel like he'd be really fun to play. (Plus EZ mode air combos are CCCCCCCCCC.)

True, the tiers are close together, but it still feels sick.
5a was nice in CT, but due to Bang's crippling flaw of horrible damage, nothing it could combo into was terribly threatening. His strength was in mixups and mind games, with nail pressure. Now any time a 5a lands, a 50% combo can't be far behind. Bang being top tier after CT is hilarious, and BangCamaro calls it reverse tier whoring, but I can't help feeling dirty about SUPER BANG in CS.

When CS comes console, they can really balance the game almost perfectly (As it's already really good with the exception of Bang/Litchi and Rachel, maybe even only Rachel.) by simply lowering Bang and Litchi's damage like everyone else. It isn't that they gained more damage; it's that everyone else lost damage. Litchi is at CT level or perhaps even stronger due to bizarre hit proration. Even if Bang's 5a is godly, it's not nearly as scary if his damage output is as shitty as it was in CT comparatively.

Uh, I dunno how to fix Rachel as I don't play her. I just hope they do something. It's sad when your favorite character changes a lot and you have to relearn them, though it can be fun.

I just remembered a video in which a Rachel player won a ranbat round. He turtled and played keep away until the time ran out. Near the end of the match he used Drive to boost above the top of the screen and spammed Lobelias until he won.

Her damage is 4000-5000 if she has meter though. Pretty nice.

But all her pressure is gone so getting that 50 heat to get that damage isn't going to happen very often. And her meterless combos top off at like 2000, ouch.
