You choose it when you set up a server, the game will ask what port to use, default being 10800. If you're behind a router, you'll need to have that port forwarded to host a game. As for forwarding ports, see

EFZ is a flavor-of-the-month thing, like Vanguard Princess but without the flashy graphics. It's kind of funny that people are suddenly giving it attention considering its age. No need to jump ship, even if it provides something "new" for 1-2 months.

>don't know how to forward
Step 1: Set up a static IP. Go here and follow the directions for the OS you're using:
http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

Step 2: Port forward. Go here and follow the directions for the router you're using:
http://portforward.com/
When it asks what game you're playing, just use the default guide. The link is just above the 2nd central banner ad. SWR's default port is 10800, but a lot of people like to use 07500, because it's the same port Melty Blood caster uses. Since you'll never be playing both games at the same time, there's no conflict, reducing the number of ports your router has to keep track of.

>what if my ip has two digits instead of three? like 18.35.440 or something like that? should I put it in as 018.035.440?
Doesn't matter. Just copy+paste from http://www.whatismyip.com/ and be sure to add ":port#", where port# is the port that you're using for SWR. On another note, the example IP that you gave is too short. An IP is four sets of one to three digit numbers separated by three periods, just fyi.

Dem guard crushes. Some of those kills were due to failed grazing as well. That, and I wasn't sure if I could block the bullets without having another guard crush.

Yeeeah, Suwako is very, very different. You have to practice alot with her, but eventually. You can become very good with her, with time, as with everyone else. I suppose I am good at guard crushing, huh? Something that'll help you not get guard crushed so often is to not over-expand your spirit via using only bullet attacks. Try to be conservative, maybe that'll help you.

GGs. Unlike me, it seems you had decks for nearly every character.
Sakuya is just too easy to play. She is not my main or anything, but I think I've done best with her in those matches. If I had made a deck, I might have even won the YoumuYaku match.
Did you really see that the weather changed to spring breeze or did you just dash into my melee attack which was intended to end the match?

Most of my decks are worse than the stock decks. e.g my Sakuya's deck has, like, 2 spellcards and one of every possible skillcard.
And, yes, I pay attention to the graze weather. And continuously ground dash while it lasts.

And, yep, I feel that Sakuya is kinda easy to use, at least at such a level. 5B sJC jB 66 jA does anything you want it to do, which is quite nice when you don't know anything else about the character.

GGs. You definitely have a much better use of Youmu's bullets for zoning than me.
That was a bunch of mind games with your rekkas and spellcard cancels. Even if I didn't eat that much spellcard cancel, it made me not punish a hell lot of things. Seems like a decent strategy to just hold the card as a threat, at least against players like me who pay more attention to their opponent's deck's than their own's.
Maybe you'd try to practice the jA j6A corner combo. It's less character dependent than the 623C finisher, does more damage too. The only thing is that the j6A will whiff if you started your combo with a jA, but it's no big deal.

Alright, GGs. That's WAY too many elbow hits for one night... whew...

Timing that reversal spellcard is damn hard, either I do it too early and you'll wait before hitting me or I do it too late and you've already hit me... Also, getting hit by your 5A between my 2nd and 3rd 214 was damn frustrating.

As for that combo finisher, I could just use that 5AAAA 214x3 in corners as well, since by leveling up it'll do more damage anyway.

That was my aim later on, when I noticed I'll most likely fail the timing anyway. Losing 5 cards for nothing and then eating a combo feels pretty bad. Of course, I'll need to do some spellcard cancels to keep you on your toes.

Oh, and I'll need to think about doing another deck to use against melee characters, since default 236 is pretty useless for that.

>> No.5134506

>>5134329
Your timing wasn't off, I was just baiting them. You should do the same thing, for example, when I have a 623 card. Feint a 5A when I wake up, let me whiff my card, and punish me. About the parry, I think that there is not hitstop during spellcard flashes, so I really have to choose whether to bait or wait for half a sec. There is not option select where I can just delay my 5A for a few frames, and it would not trigger if the flash occurred at the same time, so it's really a 50/50. I think that at times you don't try to activate it, you should try to 5A instead. If I was baiting it, I will eat/block the 5A. If I wasn't baiting it, you are most likely already being hit anyway. Well, in some cases you are too far away for me to punish and you poking with a 5A would allow me to punish easily...

About the corner combo, at level 0 I still think that jA j6A is better. It deals more damage, and I feel that it gives a better oki (more time to jump around and do useless stuff). But 214x3 perfectly works with a combo started with jA, and may be perfectly character independent. Both have their uses I feel.

The english patch is an external mod and thus will not prevent you from connecting to those without it.

If you're getting "connection failed", most likely the person who you're trying to connect to does not have their ports forwarded, or provided the wrong IP. Ask them to recheck their ports/IP, then try again.

Yeah, you want to join an IP within about 5-19 minutes of it being posted. After that either somebody else would have joined it, or the guy got bored of hosting and stopped. IPs for this game arn't permanent servers, it's one to one connections.

Actually, that wasn't the problem. The problem was the two-digit things on the IP, and I had no idea how to enter them. Thought it was 0XX instead of XX0, so that's why I kept getting failure messages. Now it's stuck at Connecting, which is probably because the person stopped hosting or whatever.

People usually format their IPs this way : IP:port (e.g. 127.0.0.1:10800), so that you can use the feature (5th option) that makes for joining the IP:port in the clipboard. And not having to type it.
Plus, this option asks you if you want to spectate before trying to join, in case you absolutely don't want to join and just want to try to spectate.

Can't connect to your IP. Make sure you have forwarded 10800 UDP (I think it's UDP) on your router.

>The problem was the two-digit things on the IP, and I had no idea how to enter them. Thought it was 0XX instead of XX0, so that's why I kept getting failure messages.
Actually, it IS 0XX instead of XX0. Also, the numbers are always between 0 and 255.
If the game gets stuck at 'Connecting...' for a while, that means that there's no server to connect to, or the host hasn't forwarded their ports properly. If you get a connection failed -error straight away, then there's probably a problem on your end.

>> No.5135609

>>5135587
Also, apparently if you enter an invalid IP, where one of the blocks is higher than 255, the game won't give you a connection failed -error even after waiting for some time, just gets stuck at Connecting... until you cancel it.

Story mode and actually fighting another player are two very, very different things. Don't consider Story mode a necessary stepping stone to competing in multiplayer. Honestly, I've learned a lot more about playing Alice in Arcade mode than anything else, because half the key to learning to play well is learning proper spacing, how to evaluate bullet density between two characters, and being able to land combos in a "real" game

TLDR: Don't worry about Story mode. If you really want to get some offline practice, go beat up CPUs in Arcade mode until you learn some nuances about your preferred character, then step into the multiplayer arena. Learn at least a handful of combos, get a good idea for "which moves beat what," and don't be afraid to try mind games, and you'll do alright

Oh... Yeah, see, I don't play many fighting games...
And I very, very, very rarely play ANY sort of multiplayer game..
Usually, when I see "arcade mode" it's either some boring thing about seeing how long you can survive against an endless barrage of a single enemy and get highscore that I'll never get to compare with any one else, stuff that have to be unlocked in story mode, ridiculous difficult, or some other shit like that, so I tend to not even realize it's there any more...
Learn everything in story mode because that's the game, is what would usually be the case for me....
I've only ever bought and played two fighting games for an extended period of time, and those were ones that had fairly intricate story modes...
