This is a common complaint from Street Fighter players. Ryu stands in the corner shooting fireballs all day and there's nothing you can do about it. Block and you get chipped to death. Jump in and you get uppercut. Wait too long and time runs out and you lose.
Thing is, this is a complaing from SHITTY players. In older games, you needed strategy to win. There was no super you could mash to do 50% life (until Super came out lol). There is ALWAYS something you can do. The shitty players just couldn't figure it out.

Don't get yourself into a position where the strat is most effective.
If you're getting caught up in it, you've already messed up. The goal is to keep yourself in a strong position while keeping the opponent in a weak one. Sometimes you have to give up the big damage opportunities to ensure that.
But suppose you're stuck in the trap anyway. Simply jump straight up and inch forward. He's waiting for you to jump forward so he can uppercut, but he can't do both at once. He has to guess. If you jump straight up and he uppercuts: you can land, walk up, and beat his ass before he can recover.

I'm not used to the game's mechanics. I often D64 and get hit, forgetting that it takes a ridiculous amount of time to be able to cancel a dash into block. I also practiced my timings for wake up 623, it must have been because your attacks are never off-timing that I screwed them up that much. I don't feel like blocking in the air with Youmu that much when you are near corner. If I get hit, I barely eat 1k. If I hit, I can easily score 2k5+ and limits. Seems good to me.
About the alt. 214, yeah, I saw that it was a bad idea to continue on block against players with decent timings. And indeed, I realized that D6 beats a lot of my options. I'll think about it, but I'm not very fond of the rekka tbh.

I think Youmu has a little more delay than everyone else after a forward dash not counting Okuu. I know how to mix up melee and bullet oki with Marisa so you either have to react really fast or guess right to DP. About the jA, IIRC the damage box isn't that huge. The most ridiculous thing is that it has like 15+ active frames. It can cover a wide area without having to be timed at all, with a very decent priority.

i wish i knew more about youmu to give you tips, but unfortunately i don't. a few basic tips though. don't spam j2a so much, if it weren't laggy i doubt i would have caught that many of them. abuse youmu's meaty j5a elbow more, you can follow it up with a connect in the air with a j6a and 6c (probably more, like i said i suck at youmu) or start a string after it's blocked on the ground. try to follow up punishable moves like that 66a (66b maybe?) you kept spamming, since it was really easy to block and dial-a you off that. i think one of her alt skills or even default 214b can follow up on that, not too sure though, mess around in practice mode for that.

I see you're sticking with Youmu's default 214. After having eaten a few super quick 3rd hits, I was really not in the mood for poking between the 2nd and 3rd hit anymore. You should have continued your press after that, too often you stopped after the 2nd hit and went away, but you could have continued with a 6A or a dash 5A once I decided to wait for the 3rd hit. You have to mix 214 reset (6A / dash f.5A/5A/2A/sJ j6A), or 214 214 reset, and 214 214 214 to frighten your opponent. Totally stopping after a second 214 is not very useful for you.

I know, but since there's no safe way to continue after the second hit, I've become more careful. Some people I've played against know that and hit me after my second 214 because they know that I usually won't do a third hit... I'll have to work more on that, really. In addition to trying to make use of the 623.

One thing I was wondering, why don't you yourself use the default 214, at least before you get your alt cards. 5AAAA 214x3 does 2346 damage at any part of the screen at level 0.

Yeah, it's up to you to see if your opponent will or not block. People play more or less safe, and ideally, you have to adapt. Once I fully blocked 3 or 4 times in a row, it would have been a good idea to start to do some resets.
But, yeah, the risk/reward is not that great for the Youmu player: 1/2 to hit with the 3rd hit, 1/2 to eat a full combo... or in your case, an added option where you jump out and everyone comes back to neutral. It's still quite bad because you were the one pressing and lost your advantage. That's why I don't like that skillcard a lot.
About that mid-screen combo, I know it, I just never think of it. But it's indeed a very good option to think of.

Well, there's the possibility of adding a spellcard if the 3rd hit gets blocked as well. Although when I tried that with Reincarnation Sword "Sword of Cycles", you actually managed to whiff a 5a and then resume blocking. However, opponents who automatically think blocking the 3rd hit means a combo for them could get a nice surprise from the 5 card melee reversal.

I'm not very fond of reversal cancelling, notably because Youmu makes great use of spellcards (awesome damage from a simple 5A) and I would not want to waste any on this kind of gimmick. Though, maybe the 2-cards clone spellcard can be an option. I think that if the opponent reacts post-flash, it's safe. But if he was already inputing his 5A the time the 3rd blocked 214 finished, Youmu will still eat it. I've got to dig this.

Almost any spellcard can be timed so that the opponent can't connect any attack after the 3rd blocked hit, I think. Blue sword and both clone spellcards are exceptions to this, but any other card should work. Of course, if the opponent blocks even your spellcard, then you'll still eat a combo AND lose your cards. Reincarnation Sword "Sword of Cycles" and Soul Cutting "Ascension to Nirvana" are probably the best to use, since they work as reversals, so you can see whether the opponent will attempt a combo and choose whether to use that card, continue pressuring or retreat.

To be honest, I mostly used alt 214 Heart Carving Cut, but with the 1.10 nerf it's pretty useless compared to what it used to be like.

The third hit is done in the air so you can't cancel it into ground spellcards until Youmu reaches the ground again. Just mash DP. It always seems to work against me but I can't even block after the third hit.
Anyway, it's great for jumpy players and you get at least 2000 damage if you hit with any of the three slashes. On level 2 you get even more damage and a mixup tool to crush into spellcard.

you have the tendency to stand there and press C C C C when things aren't going your way. You use one attack again and again and again (usually a bullet move). You also overuse Remilia's 22B, which I can easily punish unless I play Suwako because I don't know how to with her. I sometimes get the feeling that you mash buttons a lot. You always input an attack, that's why my Remilia 22BC nearly always works. Don't wake-up poke.
