"Oh wow, somehow I ended in a weird high school and my class is full of weird lolis waiting for me to hang out with them while having an adventure. Fuck yeah!"

I'd rather see more period pieces. Okay, I know you can only mine the Sengoku period so much, but there are other countries and other historical ages to look for.

I agree with you op, but we have to bear with all the school life shit and school life setting. The japanese otakus like those stuff more than stories about "adult" life.

Because High School days are considered (even if they are not) the halcyonic days of our youth.

I would definitely like to see more VN's set outside of school. It was okay at first but I really would like a character I can more easily relate to. The school setting itself is also tedious but I wouldn't mind a game being based on a school trip like Aoishiro.

Personally, I want more wild west VNs.

1) Not all workers are old. In my country you can start working at 16. That's not even an adult.

2) The same applies for girls, even if it's more rare. I think that could be an appealing at the time of making a VN about it.

There's plenty of eroge that don't feature student protagonists.

Some of the more interesting examples include: taxi driver/ex-mafioso, body guard, magician, ninja clan manager, castaway, cyberpunk mercenary, demon king, and a fucking dragon.

Gekkou no Carnevale, Akatsuki no Goei, Romanesque(plus a bunch of others), Shinobi Ryuu, Nangoku Dominion(there's sci-fi one too, but I can't remember the name), Baldr Sky, Meishoku no Reiki(plus Himegari and there's probably some other ones too), and Suzukuri Dragon.

I don't think any of these are translated, but I could be wrong.
