There's something called "shotgun properties". A handgun does not have shutgun properties, an assult rifle on the other hand do have some. You see where I'm going?

bombs do more damage closer to the boss, and i believe shots do as well, in addition to having less spread

If your shot is usually spread out, getting closer will make all your bullets hit instead of just some. For example, Reimu-C is the second strongest character in the game if she's hitting with all of her shots, but the weakest if she's far away.
