Okay I shouldn't have called the anon a troll. I just woke up and coffee finally took effect but here's the thing:

4koma aren't laugh out loud hilarious. There are some gems out there that everyone can find universally hilarious (Maybe azumangah?) and there are some times where a normal 4koma shows some hilarious parts but all in all 4komas don't get rib crackingly funny.

Then we have the fact that the puns are targeted at Japanese video game nerds. They may appreciate the nods, puns and inside jokes but you not being a Japanese Gamer won't appreciate it.

Now the only legitimate bad thing about HP is that, aside from the Japanese gamer jokes, its more a generic love comedy laced with foot fetishism and set against a backdrop of gaming culture. It tries to be 1) A romcom, 2) A gamer com comic and 3) typical 4koma gags and fails in everything except number 1. I believe it would have been a legitimately enjoyable series if it was not restricted to the 4 panel style and gags of a 4koma. But just saying its unfunny kind of means that you expect an unrealistic level of hilarity that one can't normally find in a 4koma.

I've never, ever found Houkago Play funny, the jokes are usually just really bad slapstick or REFERENCES.
But the characters incredibly erotic interaction, and how it keeps you on the edge of the seat thinking:"are they really going to kiss now, or not?" Makes you want to read on, and that it's made by a foot-fetishist is only a bonus.
All in all I DO find it legitimately enjoyable, it's very good, just not great.
