If I were to count how many times this happened to me...

Every fucking time. No lives, maybe some bombs after that monster of a card before this, twitch the wrong way, continue?

Me ramming into a card the moment Byakuren starts exploding. And I was trying to unlock it for practice too...

You have to move upward into the red bullets, then retreat when the straight blue/pink bullets move down so you have more room to dodge them.

It's really simple once you realize this, although you can still get screwed over by a bad draw of the red bullets.

If I could avoid dying so much in the first 3 stages, I could 1cc MoF on normal.
I die less during Kanako than against Hina, that's not normal.

At least you can get there in one continue...

OP here, thanks for that tip. I'll try that next time in practice mode or something. Most of the time, I fail on last spellcards because I can see my bombs and lifes disappear, stressing the crap out. Happens on every last spellcard in every touhou game :(

That was back in December, I still haven't made another serious attempt at the game.

Can't you practice Yuyuko's survival in IN? The Last Word is way harder but IIRC it's the same premise.

That one's mostly a test of your hitbox awareness. I always do EotSD extra as Marisa, and that helps end the card quicker.

I know that if I sharpen up my game in Stage 5 then I'll have enough spare lives to reflex my way through Resurrection Butterfly but I'm too lazy to practice.

That's what I usually try to do, but I end up staying to the side dodging and timing out. It's when I try to stay in the middle that I need a bomb.

Resurrection Butterfly is the easiest shit ever until Lunatic, where it's only a minor threat. It's easier than most of the Prismriver sisters', Youmu's and Yuyuko's nonspells.

This thread inspired me to try PCB yet again. Didn't 1CC it, but beat it. My first Touhou clear of any kind. Feels EXCELLENT, man.

Sakuya A has more chances of surviving some spellcards since you don't have to mimic the boss' movements, Sakuya B is just bad because her shot is difficult to use properly in later stages plus the bad cherry rate

What?

Sakuya B has really long bomb time, high power shots that can quickly cover the whole screen (this turns some stages, especially the Extra and Phantasm stages, into complete jokes), and her cherry goes up plenty fast enough.

She handles differently than all the other shot types, but once you get used to it SakuyaB practically breaks the game (on Lunatic mode, it's possible to bomb at certain intervals and NEVER MOVE and still clear the stage in six lives).

I am pretty damn terrible at Touhou games. Getting past Youmu without continuing is unusual for me. Therefor, actually beating the game, at all, is an accomplisment in my book.

Also note that once you can clear a game with continues you're pretty close to 1ccing it anyway. In my experience getting to a continue clear takes much longer than from a continue clear to a 1cc. You're getting close, keep it up.
