It's not like you even have to do that much. Just
Find the Great Fairy.
Find the missing fairy fragment (you can actually do this first, but most people don't on their first playthrough).
Pop that balloon, talk to Bomber kid.
Take Bombers test.
Go to observatory, get Moon's Tear.
Give the Moon's Tear to the deku scrub.
Wait for the clock tower to open.
Go "fight" the Skull Kid, hit him with a bubble, get Ocarina of Time, play Song of Time.


I know that sounds like a lot, but if you know where you're going you can do all that in like ten minutes.

How quickly does the clock move? I think it's something like thirty seconds = one hour?

And those minutes it takes for the clock tower to open could be spent talking to what few NPC's remain in town, I guess.
