Do you know how you can see that they are using weak ass bows and therefore aren't good archers?
They actually hold (and aim) the for quite some time before releasing.

You don't want to do that with bows adjusted to your maximum physical output, it would tire you out in no time.
You want to make sure that you can make precise shots even when you are releasing it almost immeadiately.

Considering how that most likely would be the case, then this is pretty much correct.

If we were to take two armies of the same size though, then the bowmen should have an advantage.
