5048261 No.5048261 [Reply] [Original]

>2010.05.05. ef PS2 is now in our hands. Unfortunately, it appears that we may have no way to disassemble it. We can still screencap the exclusive event CG (ECG) via an emulator, but it would mean that those ECG wouldn't have any animations (blinking/mouthflaps).

>What do you think? It's poll time!

> Would you be okay with including ef's PS2-exclusive ECG without animations?

I don't care either way, this game is not even that interesing to begin with.

Why not just cap the animations as well? Or find a way to disassemble it?

That would take normally about one month without sleep etc, but with nnl it will be like one year.

Aparrently their installer should work with the orig. game too (I haven't tested it nor have they said anything about it though).

>> No.5048376

>>5048367
It shouldn't, the installer needs that retarded compressed file.
Also nnl did the remasterization of the music and all.

>> No.5048523

>>5048367
To my understanding, the installer contains nothing except the installer, and the translated script and everything else would be in the compressed file. They only separated it so that they could claim "but we aren't hosting it" if Minori decided to go after them. They make it clear the installer is on a third party server, and they made no links to the IRC channel where the data was.

We still got a nice workable RN voice patch at least.

Not in all cases, a still CG means that previously lip synched sprites will no longer be animated.

I voted no cause then hopefully they'll stop violating even more copyrights.

I voted NO. I wanna a EF "SUPAH" (lol), no a creppy-static-screens without animation.

Its better if they search for a more competent hacker.

Only the CG ripped from the PS2 version won't be animated. Everything else will remain animated.

>UPDATE: ef PS2 is not SHINY and PRETTY. We are sad:
> - Infamous slow minori transitions (many transitions in ef Lite are sped up to double or triple speed so that the reader doesn't suffer)
> - Cutscenes are forced (if you didn't notice, we made the first scene in the game and all similar cutscenes non-forced; we did this due to your feedback!)
> - It's limited to 640x480 (like most PS2 games; we pretty much predicted this one)
> - It shockingly uses dithered lossy graphics: 1 2 (compare Miyako's right sleeve)
> - All walking backgrounds are downsampled
> - Sound quality is worse (they weren't going to beat 192k ogg from the OST CDs anyway)
>See, this is what you get when you support official minori releases. No Name Losers always tries to bring you the best quality possible, and even ef Lite is already better than any Japanese version. Would you pay $70 for the quality found in ef PS2? Of course not! Not only does minori not care about us filthy gaijin, it apparently also doesn't care about bringing excellent quality to its own fanbase!
Is anyone here surprised?

Company learns that if they don't bring their game to the West, fans will translate it instead.

Company doesn't want fans to translate it.

PS2 limitations, its already 10 years old.
Raw, heavyweight data, without archives, so they decrease quality, to fit it at one dvd.
