SA, easily. It has the right combination of simplicity without going too bare bones like MoF did. It penalizes for using bombs like MoF (a plus for me) but unlike MoF, the bombs are actually useful. Good, varied shot types with all the characters. Stage 4+ have some really fun patterns too, especially Utsuho and Orin.

People don't give PoFV enough credit. It has its issues, but it's a fun game once you understand the mechanics of it. Of course, you will fail and fail hard unless you happen to know about cancelling bullets with charge attacks, how the charge meter builds, and so on. It's not as easy to jump into as the typical STGs but it definitely has its own flavor of chaotic fun once you're used to it. My only gripe is that netplay doesn't work better with it.

Out of all the Touhou games, I actually play PoFV the most. It has a lot more replayability than the other Touhou games, in my opinion.

PoFV was the first touhou game I ever played and the first one I managed to beat. (still need to complete Extra and do it on Lunatic at least once)

I can also beat MS in normal difficulty but I suck horribly at the other games, even the motherfucking PCB and IN. I may not be doing the patterns the right way so I end up dying but I don't feel like going to youtube and watching how to do it.

I wish ZUN and Sony would come togetter and make a Touhou game with Kratos, after beating every boss you rip them appart in a God of War stylised way.

PoFV was my first and my favorite. It's also the only one I've bothered beating and unlocking new characters with.

I really don't like the normal Touhou's, because they punish me a lot more then PoFV does for using a continue. I feel obliged to try and 1 cc all the other shooter games.

7, 11, 12

7's art was okay; hit and miss like with 11, 12's is more solid with the occasional error. Also has the first character to be redrawn in the same game. Not many Stage 1s get a frontal image.
In terms of music... I love all of them, but they all have great final boss music. Utsuho's is perfect, gives me that "neo-nuclear" feel, Byakuren's and Yuyuko's are on the same level - which is to say, awesome.
Diificulty... for me, they all have mostly the same "diificulty jump," around Stage 4. 7's stage 4 is brutal for me, although the Prismrivers aren't too bad. 11's Stage 4 is so-so, but Satori... and 12's Stage 4 doesn't cause too much trouble if I stay focused, but Murasa's theme and all those anchors she throws around (lag, hooo!) and her survival card... good lord, man.
