Alice is a witch from hell who claims to have once been human because of the annoying demon hunters that would try to kill her. She was able to defeat Reimu, Marisa and Mima back in mystic square, however she lost to Yuuka due to fatigue who in turn stole the pages on the ultimate magic, Yuuka then copied the pages and the in another fight against an even more vengeful Alice, Yuuka then lost the originals in the fight. Later on Alice eventually memorized the ultimate magic and hit a point equivalent to a Buddhist hitting nirvana, so now Alice at full power is able to win every fight which is boring for her, so she intentionally loses some fights.

Canon is the best way of doing things. All canon, all the time. The Wakatsuki sisters can defeat the entire Touhou cast with one hand tied behind their back, blindfolded.

Sometimes I reread the dialog in 6/8/11/12 when I play because it's still funny. MoF isn't though and I don't know what the fuck's up with PCB if it's the translation or writing but every single line bugs me.

Canon vs Fanon arguments are stupid anyway.

Fanon is, essentially, "theories" of how unexplored situations would look like if they unfolded. They are all based on canon. Even if a fanon theory in many or some ways contradicts canon, it was still originally based on elements introduced in canon.

The thing with Touhou is, we barely know anything about character's thoughts or feelings. Occasionally we know their motives (as with "villain" characters causing incidents) partly or entirely. But the only thing we really know about the Touhous is how they act and to some extent, interact with others.

Alice is a good example. To summarize the way she's portrayed in canon, she's pretty blunt, snobby and yes, a bit of a bitch. Some fans interpreted her as a Tsundere, seeing as even though she acts like this towards Marisa in IN, they still hang out on several occasions and seem to be pretty close. It's not that hard to understand, and it's not that inaccurate, either. Just some fans have spun the concept out of hand.
