After the events on the ship, your character takes an interest in finding the real origin of the UFO's (especially the ones that show up in certain later levels as mini bosses). Umbrella girl shows up in an attempt to scare you, but ultimately fails, and the final battle begins.

The UFO's were actually Nue in disguise, trying to help you out. She reveals her true form to you, and then attempts to kill you because nobody who sees her true form lives to tell about it.

Look at one example:
> ; Infinite Lifes - change code such that lifes are never decremented
> BASE+0x2F2B0 - patch binary - B8 08 00 00 00 C3 - 6 bytes
> BASE+0x4D0F9 - nop (0x90 ... 0x90) - 12 bytes
The first line says what the next patches will be used for. So to enable one cheat, you must apply those patches (or write a trainer that does it for you). If you insist on using ollydbg:
load the game in it, then click on the data window (or code window if you wish). The data window is the lower left one, the code window is the upper left one. Press ctrl+g to an address.
> BASE+0x2F2B0
That means you take the base (0x400000) and add it to that RVA (0x2F2B0), so you get 42F2B0. Then you enter that address in the Ctrl+G dialogue and press OK. You then proceed to copy the bytes that were indicated to your clipboard: B8 08 00 00 00 C3, and rightclick at the addresses place and choose Binary->Binary Paste.

In the case of "nop (0x90 ... 0x90) - 12 bytes" that means you have to write 90 90 .. 90 (12 times) and paste that over the code.

Once you're done, press Home, hold Shift, press End, to select all the code, then Copy to executable->Selection (if you get an error, make the selection smaller, so it doesn't include the last few empty 00 bytes in the section), then close that window and it will ask you where to save the new exe. If you don't want to save it, just run the exe with F9... Or you could make a trainer using this information (just google for various trainer templates or whatever).

You cheaters are absolute faggots. I may suck at STGs, but at least I restrain myself. I rarely use more than one credit, I try to hold myself to strict standards for the sake of game evaluation and personal improvement. There is no trick to Kanako's last card. It's why it's considered the wall for 1ccs in MoF since it's difficulty is a brick wall which can not be passed by anything other than pure skill.

You simply do your best to stay under her while surviving. A simple mind tip that may help. Don't dodge bullets, go through gaps.

I used to be the type of person to use cheats and walkthroughs too. After I played Touhou, I stopped doing that. There was no point of cheating at Touhou because you couldn't have the excuse of "I just want to see the ending/ good part."

Its just disheartening when you get through the whole game dying only 1 or 2 times, and you get to her and she stops your entire progress, and you cant practice her because its not unlocked yet.

I couldn't even Marisa B bug her out, because I had to death-bomb so much >.<

If you feel that it's a sudden jump in difficulty you can't get past. Simply practice your skills on another touhou. MoF is rather low on difficulty in normal mode except for Kanako's last card. It doesn't take that much skill to get past Kanako. I literally got past Kanako the first time I met her and I think the only other 1cc I had at the time was for EoSD.

tl;dr, Simply practice your skills on a slightly more difficult overall game.

But it doesn't help you against say... Youmu.

The power loss system really annoys me. At least in Metal Black your power loss makes up for it that you can tug-of-war with the boss and deal heavy damage by sacrificing your shot power (if you do it right).

Thunder Force 6 makes up for power loss by =STACKING= or perhaps even multiplying the attack power when you hit the bomb button repeatedly (and drain your shot power like crazy)

I can't remember if it's the same in SA and UFO but in MoF I'm pretty sure 4.00 and 5.00 power are the same, so you only power down if you’re bombing a lot. I think ZUN is very forgiving with bombs; you even have to bomb if you want to score well in a lot of his games. Bomb in most arcade games and your scoring potential for that level, maybe even the game, gets cut dramatically.

>> No.5023251

Didn't he have that in the older games? Something in the options like Slow Shot.
