So, how many here did actually pass the first two "boring" novels?

I'm playing Rena's arc now, and i have to say i'm pretty satisfied, it really felt like a new and more complete experience, many thing are less ridiculous (the whole disease thing really feels natural) and there is tons of foreshadowing for the supernatural content (Hanyuu appear in ep VI lol). Also, the cast is really awesome, one of the best i ever seen.

So /jp/, your opinion of Higurashi novels.

>> No.5003303

None were boring. I'd say the first isn't my favorite but they were all great. Reading the 7th one, Minagoroshi-hen right now. Hanyuu only talks in the 6th one. She doesn't appear until the 7th one.

>> No.5003327

It's good I guess, not great though.
Far too heavy handed at times, it's quite obvious R07 was an amateur when he wrote it, Meakishi shows quite well as he got a bit better with time
I like it better than Umineko, overall 8/10.

Just finished the first episode, it was entertaining for sure.
I have no idea how you guys read so fast.

Same here, i like Umineko, but despite the fact i already know Higurashi's plot, i'm enjoying this more lol.

It felt less a trainweck, really.

>> No.5003656

Onikakushi was the only chapter I would consider the slightest bit boring, and even that had better pacing than any Umineko episode. I really don't see how anyone could consider Watanagashi boring. It was flawlessly paced and hooked me more than any VN ever has, despite having already seen the anime.

Overall Higurashi is probably going to be one of my favorite VNs, though I can't say for sure until I've read the whole thing.

Fucking this.

Umineko has shitty pacing, but Higurashi really flows really well.

Higurashi so far seems to get better as it goes along. The only thing is that I played Umineko first, so the whole structure of it feels not so innovative as it might have if I played Higurashi first.

I realized that the finale of Tatarigoroshi-hen and the whole Himatsubushi-hen in the anime practically didn't exist and Akasaka came kind of out of nowhere... but Meakashi made me understand why the anime sucked. She was such a good girl, she apologized, even... From her own wiewpoint and after seeing the anime, it brings up conflicting emotions, really.

Brb downloadan' Tsumihoroboshi.

>> No.5014521

I loved how they deleted the last chapter of Tsumihoroboshi where Keiichi comes into the town after falling from the bridge and is found and helped by the ISDF unit and because Ryukushi said it's a fucking improtant point, they said "alright, but we'll make it more interesting!" and replaced it with Satoko coming to the town afer escaping from Yamainu and seeing the fucking Banken killing fucking civilians. WHAT THE HELL IT WAS NEVER EVER EVEN STATED THAT IT HAPPENS THAT WAY. Also note that she came during night and strangely enough, they were just cleaning school with people in it.

Meakashi was the one they raped the most for.. Shion is such a complex and sympathetic character, and they changed her into an evil stalker.

>> No.5014721

Well, the important part in Meakashi that Ryu talked about afterwards is in finding where did Shion take a wrong step. It was when she was found out stalking Oryou by Mion and instantly paralyzed her, while she perfectly knew what is she doing. She couldn't get out of it from that point onwards. I don't even remember that point in the anime.

Which goes well wit the overall theme. Everything gets fucked up whenever friends start doubting each other. And yeah, also the 'Hanyuu is responsible for everything' thingy.

I did not entirely understand Onikakushi, though. Where the heck did Mion get the syringe?

Overall theme underlining the Higurashi VN's.

1) think about the way Hanyuu acts. Especially when Rika asks once whether it's alright for her to go around apologizing to people when it might as well actually be driving them all insane. Hanyuu moefaces and doesn't answer the question.
2) Read Rika's mother's journal in E4
3) Read saigoroshi, think about what is different there.
4) Read Umineko E6
5) ????
6) Profit! (If you are not a Hanyuufag)

So can anyone tell me what the fuck is going on in Tatarigoroshi?

Keiichi definitely kills Teppei this is supported by Oishi saying Teppei left that night.

Obviously, Takano/Yamainu took Teppei's body.

Now, why the fuck did everyone say he was there? I can imagine Rika would atleast try to stop the act or tell him in secret because she knows what happens when paranoia starts to hit.

Mion hided the body, just like she did with Rina in Rena's arc.

Mion and the others created an alibi for him because they understood what he was trying to do. (Satoshi did the same thing)

This can mean two things.
1) Siagoroshi is the world where Hanyuu did not die to her daughter. Therefore she died happy and also the succession of carriers never came to existence. Since she is very much the disease herself, she wants to exist. She wants Rika to kill her mother so that the syndrome comes to existence in this kakera as well.
2) Saigoroshi is the world where Rika's mother is somehow happy. Because she herself is the carrier and is cared about. That way, Rika killing her mother means killing everyone in the village. The syndrome is passive =/= the syndrome doesn't exist.

Both would lead to Hanyuu wanting to become a real concept of 'curse'. If she makes it perfect, she could very well become something godly like "Witch of Theatre". And by the way, Matsuribayashi is not a very happy ending for Takano.

Also,
>implying that Hanyuu can die, not being there and all, not seen by Okonogi, etc.

And yes, there is definitely a kind of bond between Hanyuu, Asumu and AuAu.

Nope, read Rei.
Hanyuu existed in that world too, Rika mom know her and they even spent time together.
But since this Hinamizawa was perfect she disappear in heaven.

Also, there is no queen parasite lol, do you really believe in Takano bullshit? Didn't you realize that in Shmion chapter, despite the fact that Rika dies, nothing happens to the village?

What a horrible writing. Anyway, THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID.

If she would die when Rika dies, why is Keiichi being apologized to after Rika died? Not talking about Shion, she could really induce that herself.

Okay, I totally forgot that the queen parasite doesn't exist. That makes it even worse, because Hanyuu should know, but she just goes along with that.

Keiichi was insane at that point, Rena saw "Oyashiro-sama" too, but it was just an illusion she created.
