Yes Nack, it is that bad. Tsukihime level or less, but has killer lolis and lots of blood so people like it.
You should read umienko, at least for the BGMs.

No, no, I have read umineko and watched the anime, but I haven't read higurashi's novel, and the anime wasn't that bad so I thought the umineko adaptation was worse.

oops, sorry, you are the example of the sommon misconception.
The higurashi anime was ok, if you hadn't read the VNs.
If umineko was, rushed, with bad characterization and poor direction, higurashi takes it to a whole new level.
Onikakushi isn't that bad, watanagashi still more or less, from Tatarigoroshi on they're like two different things.

Just two arcs to go, which means till mid june more or less.
Btw, the Rei important arc, shich of course the anime skipped half of the plot, is translated and with just the anime you should be able to read it ok.

Yeah the Higurashi anime is just as bad if not worse than the Umineko anime.

The difference is, Higurashi's anime is entertaining, even if it's a complete butchery. The Umineko anime is not.
