Also, Gel rarely tags, Dan tags the shit out of things (which I love) but has the fewest things. A lot of stuff just doesn't make it into Dan. Especially when stuff gets deleted for "not being approved in time".

Pixiv is Japanese DeviantArt. The art gets tagged with whatever the artist tags it with. The best way to go searching a touhou character is to search the name in the most minimalist way possible like the Rin part of Kaenbyou Rin/Orin and including the touhou tag. And even that doesn't guarantee you'll see every picture of Orin since some pictures forego any character tags at all.

I realized. It makes me annoyed when I see an artist that has, for example, tagged a picture with only ゆかりん rather than 八雲紫 or simply 紫. It makes shit much harder to find.

I prefer to archive pixiv originals rather than Danbooru or Gelbooru reposts, because then I can use the file-name to track down the original source in case I'd need to do that. But pixiv makes that too tedious.

What I hate about Gelbooru is that their uploaders source link the fucking Pixiv image directly instead of the page for it, so you can't even get to the artist/tags from it. In fact you can't do anything with it but look at the same image you're already looking at right now.

Basically, there's no guarantee you'll see everything, so no reason to desperately try. Artists who are too lazy to use the most popular tag are probably not good artists in the first place, so you most likely won't miss out on much.

Another thing I was wondering, why do they ruin their own pictures by putting other characters with reaction faces all over them?
Sometimes they keep it in the corners and I can just cut them, but why even do it?

That's not true, a lot of good artists like to use joke tags or just leave out important things for no reason. Something that annoys ME is when Toranoana has released some product using fanarts by a pixiv-user, thus limiting the illustrator to post an image no bigger than thumbnail size with some Toranoana copyright shit at the bottom.

Get some of the greasemonkey tweaks for it. I forget which one it is exactly, but one changes all the pixiv source links into links to the image's page and not the image itself.

I actually use danbooru to browse pixiv this way, by searching for stuff I'm interested in there, following the pixiv links across, then browsing the artist galleries.

I solely use Pixiv for browsing specific artists I like. IQDB helps me a lot for finding them.

The vast majority post an image maybe once a month or so. It evens out as about 2 and a half pages on new images per day at 20 images per page, so I guess about 50 images a day from 670 artists.

I don't treat it as work. It's a part of my daily routine, and it's a part that I enjoy doing. I only save maybe two or three each day, but I like browsing the new stuff from artists I know I like the art style of.

Browsing via tags and such is much less entertaining, since there is so much utter shit that I have to wade past. I do my new artist searching via Danbooru and bookmarked images from my bookmarked artists.
