I've played through Red Alert 3. There's way too much stuff going on at the same time. I'm sure that was their goal, since they wanted to appeal to the multiplayer audience with all the micromanagement and such, but it's not really my cup of tea. For instance, RA2 gameplay was excellent.

As for C&C 4, I've heard that it's more of a Dawn of War clone than a Command & Conquer game. Such a shame. At least it's the last game from the Tiberian universe.

Funny thing about EA giving away the old C&C series for free is, the good ones were free and the utterly crappy games ie. C&C4 costs $60

Generals needed a more fleshed out storyline and cutscenes. News reports that were supposed to be a substitute for cinematics and missions that felt like skirmish battles weren't all that interesting.

Never played that game, but it looks interesting judging by the screenshots.

Generals was a fine multiplayer game and that's about it. It was a completely boring single player experience. It's not a really memorable title compared to all the badass units and sudden turn of events that you had in previous C&C games.

No, both story sucks.
They wanted to combine both the old First person viewing story telling and character driven drama such s in Tiberian sun, hence fore the wife character. It ended being really silly for you don't care about the wife at all because you don't have any interaction with her at all for you care for her. Not to mention you the player might be female, the mood would not suggest a homosexual relationship.
It would not be this bad if you are a named character such as TS's McNeil.
